Boston Acoustic GT2125 amp low pass switch issue

  • I just bought and installed a boston acoustic gt2125 amp running a 12 inch kenwood kfc-w112s.  I have everything set up sounding good

but i think my low pass switch is backwards because with the switch in the on position it cuts out the bass and i adjust the low pass sensitivity but it does nothing.  With the switch in the off position i get bass.  Does any one else have this issue? Or am i doing it wrong?

    Its not big deal though.

    thanks

  • Does the LPF crossover work with the switch in the off setting? I mean if you turn the LPF switch to off so you have bass, does turning the LPF crossover adjustment have an effect on the amount of bass you get?

If not, then the switch likely isn't backwards as you say.

May I ask what HU you have?

  • adjusting the LPF dial in both on or off position does nothing.  The only thing that is controlling my bass is the input sensitivity.

I am running off the stock HU with a line out converter tapped into my factory sub wires (factory sub is disconnected though).  But i just realized maybe since there are gain controls on the LOC it has to do something with that. maybe

  • The gain on the LOC will adjust the intensity of the signal, but it shouldn't have an impact on the frequencies being allowed to play.

While it doesn't seem important for your installation at this point, I'd be tempted to exchange the amp, just in case it is defective in such a manor.

  • Long shot - but if the Head Unit has an LPF and that LPF is set below the lowest position of the Kenwood LPF, the Kenwood LPF won't do anything.

More likely that it's defective, but ...

  • all i know is what i read here.  seems there is a switch to turn the HPF on/off.  flip it.  that's really all i can come up with.

  • Also - there are supposed to be separate ON/OFF switches for the LPF and HPF settings.  You ARE using the correct ones, right?
