Help With Running Power Wire 04 Grand Prix
Ohler
Hey guys, I am having some troubles running my power wire from the battery to the amp in my 04 grand prix. There are no grometts that have any room for the wire that go through the firewall. It is also hard to drill because the fire wall is almost like a double fire wall, it is very thick and I dont...

Re: wiring multiple amps and wiring question: quality vs price

I can personally recommend the Rockford Fostgate dual amp wiring kit . I used it to hook up the two amps in my vehicle, and it worked out great. It has every thing that you need to hook up two amps to a head unit. Since you are using a four channel amp, you will need one more RCA cable to complete the...

Thanks, So If I get a MRP-M850 it will push out 800 watts. If I put that into 2 Alpine 1242D's will the watt rating still be 800 or will it drop to 400 because it is powering 2 subs? And as far as the cheep amp thing, I was looking for a example, because I am fairly new to car audio. And if I wanted...

is your amp 2 or 4 channels ? If it 2 channel how do you have the speakers wired. What it sounds like is that your amp is clipping, it is either from to low of a ohm load or heat from poor ventilation. What gauge wire do you have for battery power and ground, and how many watts is your amp ? One last...

First timer amp question.
Pluto
This might sound like a silly question. I would like to power a set of component speakers in the front doors of a Honda s2000 and a single sub in the trunk. Do I then need a 3 channel amp? Can I use a 4 channel and bridge two channels? What is the best way to drive 3 channels? Thx.

I would definitely recommend a ring terminal at the battery, with or without the extender. (You did put a fuse in the power feed, preferably no more than 18-inches from the battery, I hope?)

If the main power is only showing .5V, then you have a serious voltage drop somewhere. If everything is off, what kind of reading do you get on the main power wire? If it is close to normal with everything off, but drops to .5V when you turn it on, then it's definitely a connection or the fuse is...

Re: Good amp for these subs?

The amount of power delivered to the subwoofers is determined by the impedance (measured in ohms) of the speakers connected to the amplifier. The Alpine MRP-M850 can deliver 800 RMS watts at 2 ohm load, and 500 RMS watts at a 4 ohm load. In order to deliver 800 RMS watts of power to the two Type...

What guage wire to use?

OK, here's my situation. I currently have a single amp (30W X 4) being powered by a 10' piece of 8ga. I am adding another amp (300W X 2) for my subs. I think I should have 4ga for the new amp. My question is can I just run another section of 8ga and tie them together at a distribution block? I'm not...

So I just installed a 150 W amp, kind of an older one that I just got from a friend. So I am not entirely sure that everything works on it. However, all the fuses are good. When I turn on the car, I hear nothing. I checked the voltage from the power terminal to the ground terminal and it is like .5 V...

Re: type R and kenwood kac amp

To get a 2 ohm load, the voice coils would need to be wired in parallel. If they are wired in series, you have have an 8 ohm load. Also, the amp is a mono amp and it has two sets of terminals to make wiring up multiple speakers a little easier. The terminals on this amp are wired in parallel internally...

Grab a multimeter if you can and see if you can find the ignition wire, power antennae wire or something labeled auxiliary power wire. Also if you are using speaker level inputs, some can turn on automatically without the remote wire. Pzaul
