JVC Arsenal KD-AHD79 requires frequent reset

  • Hello everyone,

I've had my JVC Arsenal KD-AHD79 for a while now and it's worked great.  However over the past month or so it seems to just stop working.

The first two times this happened it acted as if the USB connector was plugged in with my iPhone on it even when it was not.  I'd power it off and then back on and it was stuck at USB.  Pressing the Source button did nothing.  I had to reset the unit.

Then yesterday I got into my truck after work and pressed the power button but it wouldn't turn on.  I tried popping off the face plate and putting it back on but nothing.  Finally I just reset the unit and it works fine again (although I lost all my settings... again).

I've spent the last hour digging around on the Internet but found nothing which helps me with the problem I'm having.

    Can anyone provide any help?

    Thanks.

  • this particular HU has been lauded for its reliability, so my best advice is to contact CF's customer support @1.800.555.7032

you may have a defect, tho they apparently are rare with this unit.  that doesn't matter, tho.  it will most likely be replaced for free (assuming you bought it from CF). no one should tolerate this sort of inconvenience, yet eBay continues to make a killing based on a philosophy of "most ppl don't expect it to work perfectly."  (sorry, bit of editorializing there).  CF takes care of its customers!!!  grab the order number or anything that came with the shipping to help expedite your claim.

  • It's a longshot, but is anything connected to the Wired Remote (Blue/Yellow) wire? If so, disconnect it and tape off the wire then try the receiver.

If nothing was connected, be sure it's taped off anyway and again try the receiver.

  • I did indeed purchase it from CF.  It worked perfectly fine for months until recently so I initially thought it was the older USB cable I was using to connect up my iPhone to the front USB port.  I replaced the cable and all was fine until the other day when it just wouldn't power on.  I finally just pulled the faceplate and hit the reset button and up it came.

I'll give it a week or so and see if this happens again.  Then I'll give CF a call and work things from their side.

    Thanks!

  • I'll have to pull the unit this weekend and make sure nothing is touching those wires.  I did not use them and I'm reasonably sure they're taped off but I'll verify for myself.

    Thanks!

  • sgtcasey, were you able to verify the connection Shawn mentioned?
