im planing on making a sub enclosure but first i wanna get some fead back on wether to run 3 kicker comp 12" svc 4ohm 150 rms each
or 2 comp vrs. either 10 (300rms) or 12 (400rms)... also not sure on dual 2 or dual 4 ohms due to some rumors about how stable kenwood amps are at 1ohm
im only planing on using my kenwood kac8103d mono block amp rated at 500x1 at 2ohm and its 1ohm stable.
by the way i listen to rock and alternative music so i like tight fast bass.
im not looking at buying a 2nd amp due to cost. i just want to get the full power outa the amp i have now because as u see im way over powerin the 2 kicker comps i have now
this is the box i would like to use for 3 subs but ill will be making it myself cause it would cost like 60 for the box and about the same in shipping...
i was wondering if runing the 2 comp vrs with only like 250 rms each would make them sound worse then my comps i already have
I like the three sub approach here. They are all SVC and have 150 watts at 4-ohms. When wired together, the impedance would be around 2.7 or so. That means your amp is going to put out around 450 watts at that level. It won't put out the entire 500 watts because your impedance will be slightly higher than 2-ohms, but it will push them adequately. Plus, it sounds like you really want to go with that box!
In my opinion, those three subs would sound better because you are powering them closer to their potential. In the other scenario, the subs would be underpowered.
Any other opinions or ideas out there?
