Hey guys, I'm pretty new to car audio and brand new to Crutchfield forums, but I thought I would pose a question and see what you guys think.
I have a 2010 Mazda 3 that I purchased last year, and despite getting the upgraded Bose sound system, I'm a little dissatisfied with the bass that the stock subwoofer is putting out. I have not looked at the subwoofer at all, I will have to open up my trunk and take a look at it if you guys have any specific questions.
Really what I'm asking is if you guys have any suggestions on what I should do. Like I said, I'm pretty new to car audio and everything, and I don't know what getting more bass would entail. Do I need to get an amplifier as well as a new subwoofer, or will just a new subwoofer be sufficient. If at all possible, I would like to just replace the current one and not have to have some sort of enclosure taking up more space in my trunk, but if necessary, I will do it.
GLH is correct. The stock subwoofer in that system is not a standard aftermarket size. A custom installer may be able to get an aftermarket in the stock location, but I do not think it will be all that economical to do. You had better plan on installing a subwoofer into a box and taking up a bit of the trunk space.
Sorry, to do what you want, you will need a sub, enclosure, amp, and wiring.
Because my name is on the business, I work hard to make sure you get the best possible shopping experience. I look forward to hearing your comments .
