Looking for a really good shallow 8" sub.

This question is not answered

I have a 2001 Miata that I am currently running a 10"sub in the trunk. This spring's project for the car calls for a sealed box design with an 8" shallow mount sub in the front of the passenger footwell to replace it. It looks like the best candidate may be the Kenwood Excelon KFC-XW800F. Are there any other good candidates to consider?

  • Sundown SDv2 8. It's designed for small sealed enclosures and is very shallow for a sub of this class with very good excursion. It takes power though, I recommend 500 watts to each one.

I have 3 of these btw in .25 ft3 sealed enclosures. You can get them here:

MOD EDIT:  Link to competitor's website removed.  Please link to the manufacturer's website or Crutchfield item page where possible.  Thanks.
