I installed my wife's sub and it worked really well for the first time she started and ran the car. The next time she started the car the sub did not work anymore. The amp powers up but the little needles that move when the music is going don't move anymore. It's as if they are not getting a signal from the stereo. So I tried to plug my ipod straight to it using a 1/8th inch to RCA cable and it still got no signal. So I thought maybe the amp is just broken but when we tried another amp still the same thing. What would cause the amp to get power but no music?
What brand and model amp is it?
It's been a LONG time since I've run across an amp with VU meters - ESPECIALLY in mobile audio.
Anyway - check the power wire, the ground wire, the main fuse by the battery and the fuses in the amp itself. Often the power light on the amp itself just indicates that the remote input wire has power and not necessarily that the amp itself does.
Hope This Helps!!!
Anyone else have suggestions?
2002 Ford Focus JVC KD-A815 Sony CDX-GT410u Sony XT-100HD HD Tuner Stock speakers, no amp, no subs
McIntosh made the last HU i can recall with VU meters. that was a while ago (been more than 10 years since i've seen one). i can't think of a single car audio amp that has them. must be pretty rare... what is it?
