  • Forum Post: Re: What is better 2 ohm or 4 ohm subs

Since you have the Type-R subwoofers, I would not get that amp. A dual 2 ohm voice coil subwoofer presents either a 1 or a 4 ohm load to the amp. Since most amps are not 1 ohm stable, we use the 4 ohm method. This means that you need to find an amp that outputs something around 500 watts at 4 ohms. The...
  • Forum Post: Re: adding to my system

I would get a totally different amp for two of those Rockford Fosgate subwoofers. I would get two of the dual 2 ohm voice coil subwoofers and then the Kenwood KAC-8103D amp is an excellent choice.
  • Forum Post: Re: sound good?

You will get good bass, but not the best the subwoofers can give. Since the 10" Kicker Comp VR subwoofers handle up to 400 watts RMS, then the 1000 watts when you need 1600 watts will be a little shy of ideal (it is only 62.5% of the top RMS power). However, it will still produce bass. I suggest getting...
  • Forum Post: adding 1 sub, and an amp, need wiring help!

i got a pair of Polk mmc6500's for my front doors, a Kenwood KAC-7252, and an Alpine CDA-9883. everything sounds great, i just want more bass. i have a 2 ch rca cable going from my deck to my amp, do i need to get another cable? to go to the new amp? and i don't know what to do about powering the new...
  • Forum Post: Re: Please help with sub/amp Questions

Im not extremely experienced, but heres what i think. if you are listening to metal or other rock that has really fast double bass lines, i would probably go with two ten inch subs in a sealed box. The double bass will come out a lot cleaner than if you have 2 12" subs, like i do. the twelves are really...
  • Forum Post: Does the Alpine MRD-M605 amp match 2 Kenwood Excelon KFC-XW1205dB subwoofers

Alpine MRD-M605 amp details are Mono subwoofer car amplifier 300 watts x 1 at 4 ohms (600 watts RMS x 1 at 2 ohms) Internal, variable-speed cooling fan MOSFET power supply and output stages STAR Topology for cleaner sound Bass Engine® features: Low-pass digital filter, 30-200...
  • Forum Post: Re: What is the right amp to run two 12" Kenwood eXcelon KFC-XW1205dB subs?

Those amps will work. However, the Kenwood speaker can handle more power. If you are wanting to get hard hitting bass, then you should look into getting the Kenwood KAC-9103D amp. It will give each subwoofer 450 watts RMS instead of 300 watts RMS from the Alpine amps.
  • Forum Post: What is the right amp to run two 12" Kenwood eXcelon KFC-XW1205dB subs?

I just got 2 Kenwood Excelon KFC-XW1205dB subs. I am not sure what amp to buy, if anyone could help me out that would be awesome. Details of the subs are... • Forum Post: Re: Amp/subs

Eluzion, It is rather difficult to connect three subwoofers to one amp. When you connect your Alpine subwoofers , you will get a 1.333 ohm rating. While no amp we carry gives a rating at this impedance, there is one that may just work. We offer a Kenwood KAC-9103D which is supposed to output a little...
  • Forum Post: Re: 3 comps or 2 crvs

I like the three sub approach here. They are all SVC and have 150 watts at 4-ohms. When wired together , the impedance would be around 2.7 or so. That means your amp is going to put out around 450 watts at that level. It won't put out the entire 500 watts because your impedance will be slightly higher...
  • Forum Post: Whats Wrong

Hey everybody. I have got a 96 ford taurus and I have put a 1800 max watt Kenwood amp in to power my 2 15" Volfenahg subs. But something is wrong because I'm blowing the two 30 amp fuses in my amp on a regular bases. can any body help.

  • Forum Post: Will My Amp Work With My Subs?

I'm sixteen just got my first pair of subwoofers for Christmas. I bought an amp at my local Best Buy and was told by the salesman that it should work fine with the subs I have. When I got home I began to read the box and I'm not so sure it's going to work. Seeing as I'm not an expert...
