I want to upgrade the speakers in my ford expedition and need some recommendations. I plan to keep the factory head unit to continue to use Sync.
I am interested in the JL C5 series or Boston Acoustic Pros for front and rear door speakers. Any advice? C5 series are the same price so which model?
Is upgrading the factory sub to the JL stealth box worth it?
I am thinking about adding an additional set of rear speakers to the third row seating.(the navigator has this set up) What amp would I need to run 2 front speakers, 4 rear speakers and a sub (factory sub vs JL stealth box)
Thanks for your advice.
Very hard to find a 5 channel amp that meets the needs of the full range speakers AND the subwoofer(s).
Also, yes if you like good strong bass in your ride, the JL upgrade from stock sub is worth it. No comparison, as long as the JL is properly EQ'd and powered.
The Bostons have more warranty coverage and more power handling -

Alternately, you could use a 4 channel amp to power the front components and the subwoofer, and another 4 channel amp to power 2 sets of coaxial speakers for rear doors and 3rd row. I really do believe, however, components in front, coaxials in rear doors, and JL sub setup will be all you want, as long as everything is properly setup, EQ'd, and powered.
You could also use 4 less expensive speakers for the rear doors and 3rd row to be wired together in parallel to the rear channel of a 4 x 100 watts RMS amp for 50 watts RMS each speaker ... front channel of the amp to front component set.
You will need a 4 channel amp for the front components and rear coaxials and a mono amp for the sub system.
Do you recommend this over a 5 channel amp?
Should I think about buying a equalizer with my system? What should I consider? What should I consider for a 4 channel amp and mono to run the JL 570 front/ rears with the stealth box. JL has a 5 channel amp which is 4 x 100 + 500. What do you think about that amp?
I wouldn't recommend and equalizer proper, maybe something like this -
