    Looking for some answers.

I am in the process of upgrading my sound system in my '05 trailblazer. I am going with a new HU, speakers, and a 4 channel amp.  Since the speakers are ran from the amp, and the amp is ran from the preouts on the back on the HU, I am just tape off all the speaker wires in the dash correct??

If you plan on running new speaker wire from your amp to your new speakers that'll work. Or depending on how powerful the amp is you may be able to tie in original speaker wire but not sure how much work that would entail.Might be easier to run new wires.

    Re: Looking for some answers.

    Thanks for the reply.

I was looking at how the wires are ran into the doors. The front one would be too difficult to do, so I will just use the factory wires for those. The back doors use a pass though tube so if I wanted to I could run new wires from the amp to the back door speakers with no problems. But since I have to use the factory wiring for the front doors, I might as well use it for the back doors as well... Huh?.... Oh well my intentions were there, but the truck just does not want to play nice.

    Thanks

Our own Dave H recently posted a blog covering the Pro.Fit Wire Worm that makes speaker wire routing much easier in tight factory locations. The tool worked very well for him when running new speaker wire to the front doors of his Scion.

    I hope that helps.

If you have to run through a Molex plug in the door - it still might not be that easy, but there is a thread here on that.

    Tiger.... TY!!!!!

This site was a huge help, now I have an idea how I can run the 14ga speaker wire from the amp to the speakers with out using the factory wires.

    Ryan,

Thanks for the link, I already have a wire snake for running home wireing through walls if I need it. The problem I am running across for a quick peek at my trailblazer doors is the I believe the fronts use a molex connector right in the middle of the wire route from the body to the door, the rears look like its a pass throught tube, but I am doing all the install on saturday.

    Re: Looking for some answers.

WOW! that wire worm is exactly what I need! I managed to run my 12ga. wire into the passenger door with a coathanger.....Now I know why the stereo shop charges 65 an hour! But I have been unable to route  into drivers door yet  it is so darn tight with that stupid S curve! I pulled out the grommet on both ends and have my speaker wire SHOWING! Not only that its letting in dirt and moisture AND rubbing on the edge of the hole!
