I had resigned myself to using a griffin cig lighter charger that has a built-in line out. Its on a rigid pole (huhuhuhuh huhuhu) and supports the weight of the phone, but it kept tipping so I got another griffin item, a cell phone holder, installed just above the end of the power adapter. Phone slides in and with some gentle nudging, it connects and I can listen though the aux input.
Far from perfect, but workable.
Now, just got my 3g iphone (finally) and will be once again atempting to use the kenwood cable.
Here goes nothing
Great info here...I get my work binus in mid February which always seems to be right when new stereos are released. Bought the KVT-512 and love it, but it wouldn't work with old iPod photo (knew that going in) but was surprised that my iPhone didn't work...even after the firmware upgrade. Never knew about the new cable.
Just went out an bouth the KCT-iP301V cable locally...did the firmware upgrade months ago and am assuming that my iPhone will work once I switch out the old iP300V cable with the new one...really just wish my iPod photo could be controlled somehow...bah..
Just curious if you were ever able to make the KVT-719 work with the ip301v cable? I have an iphone 3G and can get charging and it will play the music video through audio but can't seem to make the video work?
I upgraded per Kenwood to their latest firmware on the unit and just not sure how they claim it will work with other ipods but that they dont support the iphone through it?
I'm sure there's a way, just not sure what it is?
Thanks in advance!

I still can't get the iPhone video to work on my KVT-512....and it is annoying that the iPhone says it is not compatible with the accessory, but works anyway.
Kenwood needs to do another firmware update.
