Hello all! I have an Alpine iva w505 with the Blackbird 2 nav installed. It works pretty well...recently however, I have noticed that when using it the screen on the head unit is graying out when using the navigation. All other functions on the headunit operate as they should...I can barely see the screen when using navigation. When undocked the blackbird's screen is great...no problems. As suggested from the folks at CF I tried charging the blackbird unit....nothing.I also tried resetting both head unit and blackbird.... to no avail. I have not changed any settingson the headunit or the blackbird........... Anyone have any suggestions??

I must admit, I am stumped on this one and since no one else has chimed in on this one, then others must be as well. Personally, I think the unit must be defective. most of the time, resetting or recharging a unit like this will fix the issue. That helps "restart" the unit. I would suggest giving Alpine a call at (800) 421-2284 and see if they have heard of anyone else experiencing the same thing.

I hope this helps and please post back if you find anything out.

I agree with Warren, I'm thinking the unit is most likely defective as well.

As it turns out it was defective. I must say it was cradled in the head unit since new. I am now wondering if it got too hot by being in there or what. I have now just started putting it in the head unit when I need it just to be sure it isn't the heat. Thanks for the replies.
