I just installed a nice new Pioneer DEH-P3100UB in my truck, and I bought the HD tuner, but didn't know what I was supposed to do with it, so it's sitting on the Admiral. The speakers that are in the truck, are all stock, and they all suck.
I want to buy some nice 4x6's first, then buy an amp for them later.
I want noticeable, clear highs, but not harsh, or "mechanical-sounding," and excellent mids. Bass isn't a real concern, because A, they are 4x6's, and B, I may either add 2 kickpanels for 6 1/2's, or perhaps 1 12" behind the seat or somewhere.
I was looking a these for the dash:

And these for the rear of the cab:

Powered by this amp ,sometime in the future, perhaps.

Never owned BA speakers, would these be ideal? Or does someone have a better idea? they seem to be liked by reviews, and the amp is a 5 star one fro m20 different people, so that sounds like a winner, but I am open to all ideas. Not *really* on a budget, but I'm not paying $600.00 for an amplifier, or deck, or anything, for a 16 year old vehicle, if you know what I mean.
Thanks guys!

Get the best quality 4x6's you can afford. You didn't say what size the rear speakers are, but this applies to both. Look for quality construction, rubber surrounds, large magnets, high sensitivity rating, etc. Things like bass blockers, foam baffles, Dynomat, etc., can really help small speakers. Your Pioneer head unit should power the 4 speakers fine if the stated RMS power rating begins with 2. Lower OHM rated speakers will have lower resistance to that power.
Hope this helps. Good luck.
I'm not sure 6.5's will have a tremendous amount more bass than 4x6's - they will be better, but not sure by how much.
Hope This Helps!!!

Er...well, I got the new speakers in probably a week ago, but I really soubt 4x6's will fit anywhere other than the front doors (which aren't equipped for them, but it says so on CF? )
