I just bought some refurbished Kicker cvr 12'' subs. (powered by Kicker zx750.1 if ya wanna know =])
Now i've got two questions:
Since they are refurbished, do i still have to play them low for a week or so to break in the voice coils? Or are they already broken in?
And for the box to put them in, should i go ported or sealed? yes i know it depends on what sound i want, but someone out there has to know if they will sound bettter in a ported or sealed box.
Thanks.
I've never thought it necessary to "break-in" brand new subs, but if it makes you feel better to play them more quietly for a week or two, it can't hurt them.
Hope This Helps!!!

It's up to you. You have to decide how much space you have and what you think would be better. According to the site, the volume of a sealed enclosure should be between 1 and 4.6 cubic feet and between 1.75 and 2.25 for ported. Here's a link to the site:

Okay, for the space that i have in my trunk is -38 1/2'' W-16 1/2'' H-(depth isn't a problem, i have a long trunk, over 50'' in length)
Now with those specs of my trunk, should i get this ported box for my subs?

Or should i make my own sealed box with specs off that site?
Make your own box. Assuming the width means from wheel well to wheel well, you could make a box with the following dimensions:
2 cubic foot ported box,
38" wide x *should be 19" so you can fit two side by side*
16" high x
6.25" deep. *should be 12.5*
You'll notice that if you multiply those dimensions back together, you'll get a little more than 2 cubic feet. That's because the port takes up some of the volume. Just in case you don't know, there are 1728 cubic inches in 1 cubic foot.
Alright, thank you.
And for the other question, Since i bought refurbished subs, does that mean the voice coils are broken in?
I honestly don't know.
