I need a way to limit the frequency going to my dash speakers and rear pillar speakers. Does anyone have any recommendations? They are 4x6 speakers.
1992 Chevrolet pickup; Jensen VM9412 HU; Alpine 4x6 2-way dash speakers x 2; Pyle Blue Label 4x6 3-way rear speakers x 2; Pyle Blue Label 12" subs x 2; Crunch GVP700.2 "Ground Pounder" subwoofer amplifier; Custom Subwoofer box
600 hz Bass Blockers if 4 ohm, 50 watts and under. 800 hz Bass Blockers if 4 ohm, over 50 watts.
They come in pairs. You need 2 pair. Simple to install on the positive speaker terminal and work like a charm.
Doesn't your headunit have high pass settings for the speaker outputs ? Only problem I see with the bass blockers is not being able to low pass your subs at 600 hz.
Maybe you need some midrangers in boxes and amped. Heck yea. Now we're talking car audio.

I think you should look at putting some 6.5" midbass woofers in your doors, hooked to a 2 channel amp and crossovered from about 120 hz to 600 hz and use the 800 hz bass bloskers on the 4x6's. Low pass your sub at 120 hz, or as high as your amp goes, then over lap a little with the midbasses.
Maybe these will work in the doors, with some mods. Free air, but would benefit from baffles and sound deadening material.

Since your 4x6's aren't getting alot of power, use the 300 hz bass blockers on them. Crossover the midbasses from 100 to 350 hz.
This amp would be great for midbass subs because of the built in crossovers and subsonic filter.

Just throwing ideas at ya. I dream car audio.
You might find an 8" cheaper, and run it as midbass/midrange in mono. You could build a small sealed box for the console area. Sounds cool. This way you could have the mids/highs surrounding you, the midbass/lower vocals in center, and low bass behind you !
Awesome !
You could use just 1 if you want. I don't know what your subs are lowpassed at, but you would just use the midrange to over lap them slightly and also overlap whatever you have the full range speakers highpassed at.
This is dang nice, and all you need for midbass/lower midrange :

You could lowpass your subs at 120 hz, crossover this bass to 100 -500 hz, highpass the little fullranges at somewhere between 300 and 500 hz.
This amp will work with it very nicely and lowpass can be set at 500 hz. Daddy like.

I would face it forward as long as nothing is blocking the front. It wont take much of a box to work. I would get a grill for it. Won't be any problem hearing it !
Thanks for the suggestion. I was looking at the bass blockers, but I heard that they should be my last choice. That left me thinking, "what else is there?".
I'm honestly not sure if my HU has a HPF. I just recently heard that I need to put a HPF on the 4x6's so I haven't had a chance to check. I have my battery disconnected while I'm customizing the interior.
Thanks for the advice. However, my truck is a standard cab, so it doesn't have door speakers. I do have a center console that has plenty of room for some midbass speakers. Those speakers are a bit expensive. I don't have the money for any right now, but I migh down the road. But just in case, do you know of any that are cheaper? I don't need a lot of power, just enough to make sure the driver and passenger hear the midbass.
Thanks for the advice. I'll look into the 8" for the midrange. How many would you recommend? I know at least two, but would more get me a better quality?
Awesome! Thanks for the help. Do you think that speaker would sound better facing towards the front or the top?
Thanks for the help. How much space is needed? I'm thinking about .5 cubic feet.
This might be too big for your space -

Thanks for the reply. Sorry it took a while to reply back. I really can't wait to get it finished and have a ride again (everybody gives you dirty looks when your driving your dad's black crown victoria).
