Hello,

I have a JBL scs 145.5 5.1 system which I have really liked, and sounds just fine with my Yamaha receiver. Recently the sub woofer has developed and intermiten squeal type sound and I'm being told it probably not worth fixing since I paid about $300 for the whole system.

My question is since the speakers are still fine, what would you suggest to replace my subwoofer with? I am looking at the Energy S 8.3 at the crutchfield outlet from $169.00 which fits my budget.

Any suggestions?

Hello Jim and welcome to the Crutchfield forums.

I just checked and the Energy S 8.3 is no longer available in the Outlet store, maybe you decided to go ahead and buy it. If you didn't, I recommend the Infinity PS28 subwoofer. It is slightly higher priced than the Energy model, at $199.99. However it is normally a $300 subwoofer and offers amazing sound for the money.

Hope this helps!
