hi, i got a new truck (2001 silverado 1500 ext. cab) and im looking to put my subs in it.

i got 2 rockford fosgate punch z 10"

400watt max power, 4 ohms, and a 1.5" voice coil.

i was thinking i would make a long thing rectagular box to mount behind the back seat? could anyone help me with this idea?

i need to know how much volume to make the box, im still getting used to all this.

if it helps, my amp puts out 350w of power to each sub when i wire it all together.

Thanks!

Austin

Hello Austin,

To get started, you need to know the minimum driver depth for your subwoofers. There have been several different versions of the Z series subwoofers so I am not sure of that exact dimension for your woofer.  You will add 2 inches to the minimum driver depth. To determine the minimum height and width for your box  measure the frame of your woofer. Then determine the shape the box must be for your application. Once you have all these measurements, you will need to determine the internal dimensions and volume of the box. If you are using 3/4" MDF then you will want to subtract 1 1/2" from each dimension. The internal box volume is Height x Width x Depth divided by 1728. This will give you the internal box volume. You may need to make adjustments until you get within the recommended box volume for your subwoofer. Typically the Z series subwoofer can work in very small sealed boxes. You can locate further information on building subwoofer boxes here.

Hope this helps!
