I'm looking at some 6.5" midrange drivers the only thing is that they are 3" and i dont know if that is to deep or not and in the back everyone is telling that im missing the cage that goes around my 6x9's will that be a problem in the future or not because ever since i had the car there was never a gaurd (cage) of any sort.  Is the guard for the speakers or the stuff in the trunk from being damaged cause after 15 mins of me of playing music (l like the boom of them) but they are alittle warm to touch (the magnet).

Thank you for everyone who helps me with this post.

Hello ImpalaMan2604,

The available mounting depth for the front door speakers is 2 3/4" and unfortunately you don't have room to lift the speaker up with a spacer because the speaker would hit the grille. This will limit your speaker option. You can use our Online Vehicle Fit Guide to locate all the speakers that will work in your application.

As for the rear deck speakers, according to the research file, there isn't a cage which comes factory standard. You will be able to see the magnet from the trunk and this should not pose any problems.

Hope this helps.

Yes, 3" is too deep for your doors. You need to choose some speakers with a shallow mounting depth. These will work well -
