I would like info on any good subs out there on the market today that provides great sound quality as well as spl performance. Cost is not an option. I need to replace the one i just blew.

My audio system comprise of: 2  6" eminems in the front doors, 2 soundstream tantalum tweeters, 2 6" and 2 8" eighteen sound for mids, single 12" DD 3500 Sub (fried) powered by a MMATS 3500.1 amp. Mids and highs are powered by a powerbass amp.

Thanks

which one is comparable to the DD 3512? I  was told that the MTX Thunder 8500 and 9500 series are just as good and will

give me a deeper bass than the DDs. The JL Audio W7s are good on the lower end but the DDs will make them sound feminine

on the higher end. One prob i had with the DDs was that it would miss quite a bit of lower frequencies. I thought it was the media

but even my pc sound system would pick up the lower frequencies the DD missed. So basically i'm looking for a sub that will hit

most if not all low frequencies and shake my car apart.

Any sub will reproduce whatever frequency signal it recieves, as long as it is capable of reproducing that signal. Your headunit or amp might not be sending those lowest frequencies you are missing in your vehicle.

Sounds like you need 1 of these bad boys -

i'm a fan of Digital Designs, but the enclosures they work best in are generally tuned higher than those recommended by other manufacturers.  DD suggests their subs be tuned around 40hz, and that generates a lot of SPL, but you sacrifice deep bass extension.  They're more impressive from a block away than they are when actually trying to enjoy your favorite music.  The L7 would be better for that, or the DD 1512.

Yeah i know what you talking about. Max volume on my head unit (Pioneer AVH-P7800DVD) goes to 40 and with the volume

level on 10, the bass the DD generated pounded my chest, rattled my throat and made it difficult for me to swallow. The rms on the

12" L7 is 750W. Without having to change out my amp and building an enclosure for a 15" speaker, i'll need a 12" speaker with an rms

of about 1200W to 1700W. The rms on the DD 1512 is only 500W.....it'll get fried if used with the MMATS. I think i'll go with another

DD 3512 and tune the enclosure to a different frequency as well as probably change the port. Will let u know how it sounds within

two weeks.

I'd like to make a suggestion to you, and feel free to disregard it.  Looking at the rest of your system, i would think you would be happier with an Extended Bass Shelf enclosure.  Nothing against the DD3512, but it is all wrong for you.  They design the suspension on those to not play very deep bass, to prevent over-excursion in the ported boxes they recommend.  To get a decent amount of output below 30hz, you would need a truly ENORMOUS port for that sub, and a gargantuan enclosure.

I can't find specs on it, and in a sense it's a waste of a great amp, but you could probably run a DD3512 with the MMATS at 4-ohms or 8-ohms.

Just a thought - doesn't sound like how you want to go.

FI or Resonant might be worth considering also.

Hope This Helps!!!
