I've ordered this receiver from crutchfield and was wondering if the DPS chip works only with stock speakers or it works with upgraded speakers too? Another thing, how would the unit know which car its going into so it can calibrate itself according to the interior dimensions of the car? I have Honda accord EX coupe, 2003 with upgraded speakers from Polk, Momo series and a Polk Momo series sub woofer 10'. I'll be utilizing the RCA outputs at the back of this unit. Please advise how to fully calibrate this unit to get the most out of the USP chip this thing offers as it was the only deciding factor to go with this unit. I want my car to sound just like studio after all that's why i've invested so much into it already. Thanks.
Hello Abhishek and welcome to the Crutchfield forums!
The DPS processor is designed to optimize the sound for vehicle applications. However, it is not vehicle specific and you will not need to maintain the stock speakers to take advantage of the improved sound quality. If you would like additional support in setting up your system, please call our technical support staff . The number is found on the back of your invoice.
Thanks for shopping Crutchfield!
Would be a good question for Crutchfield tech support. That's what they are there for. Call the toll free number.
You won't have the tech support number until you get the invoice with your unit - although Customer Support might be able to look up your info and put you through.
I wondered the same things.
I know the unit probably originally was programmed at the manufacturer for the car dealership it was going to. I know there is a setup disc and I imagine you select your car model off it - I don't know how it handles speaker upgrades or things like seat covers and such, but I would expect it to be somewhere between a radio without the Bongiovi processing and something like the ALpine Imprint that can account for such things.
Hope This Helps!!!
