Hello Folks,
I just installed an Alpine iDA-X100 headunit, Sirius SCC1 and Alpine KCA-SC100 SIRIUS Adapter. The sirius music comes out fine, but it does not show the artist or song. The screen just shows "001ch".
I read through the whole manual and I can't figure it out. I also called crutchfield and the representative took me through all of the settings--which were set correctly--and concluded that the radio needed to sync with the Sirius satillete for awhile to get that information. I am not so optimisitic, as I left it running for an hour and it still shows "001ch" instead of the artist and song.
In addition, when I click channel search, it brings up all of the current artists and songs playing, but when I actually select a channel, it has the channel number and not the artist/song displayed.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
~GS
Another thought - and I can't say it will be a solution, but I thought I would throw it out there ...
What it might be is that you either need to delay the turn-on of the Alpine HU until after the Sirius tuner is powered on, or delay the turn-on of the Sirius tuner until after the Alpine HU is turned on.
(More likely the tuner needs to be delayed from the sound of it).
PAC sells a TR-7 trigger module that can accomplish this - see this thread for details.
Hope This Helps!!!

I've struggled with this problem ever since I got the X100 even before I got the KCA-SC100. I was using an older Alpine Sirius tuner with the same symptoms. I've been troubleshooting another problem with my Sirius setup (now using the KCA-SC100 attached to a SC-VDOC1 and a Stilleto 2. While troubleshooting, I turned the receiver off after I had turned on the ignition and then turned the receiver back on. Voila! Satellite info displayed. Still didn't fix my first problem, but my search through the forum found this thread which I think is related: http://community.crutchfield.com/forums/p/4232/41769.aspx#41769
I'm off to find a constant 12v wire in my harness to attach to the KCA-SC100 to see if it helps my original problem and, hopefully, the display problem, too.

I vaguely remember that thread. Keep in mind as I said - I think every fused wire into the car from the fusebox gets cut off when the starter is engaged. You will probably end up running a wire directly from the battery. No harm in that, but be sure to have an appropriate fuse on it within 18-inches (or closer) to the battery.
Thanks for this information. I have confirmed that my sirius also works when I turn the receiver off and back on. Did you ever get this resolved either by using a constant 12v wire or by hooking it directly to the battery as TigerHell said.
I'm worried that the sirius may drain the battery, too.
I'm in the process of preparing for a vacation and business trip and haven't been able to check this out yet. I won't be back home for 3 weeks so that this is going to have to wait. I agree that leaving the KCA-SC100 attached to the battery would like eventually drain the battery.
The more I think about it, however, I really think this is an Alpine firmware issue, since this happens just on turning the car on and not trying to start it. Cycling the power from the front of the HU gives me the artist info in either case (once my satellite tuner powers on [my current issue]).
Barring a firmware update from Alpine, Tiger's post above appears to be the fix. I did some digging on Alpines site and did not see a firmware update listed, however you guys may still want to give them a quick ring to double check.
Thanks for the information. I called Alpine and the rep said that he did not know of any firmware updates, nor had he ever heard of this problem.
Crutchfield sent me a new Universal Sirius Tuner. Since I have it, I will try hooking that up. If that doesn't work, I will try the TR-7 to delay the headunit's power and report back either way.
Thanks again for all of the help!
If it doesn't work....
The TR-7 is somewhat expensive - especially if you don't know if it will work and might not be able to return it.
I'm not sure how all this hooks together, but ...
I would recommend you wire the sirius tuner power to a 12V ACC connection (if it is hooked to the receiver's remote turn-on now). Then, I would recommend you get a cheap 12V toggle switch and wire it in-line with the red wire for the Alpine.
With the toggle off, start the car, then flip the toggle on and if Sirius now works, you are now pretty confident the TR-7 will fix it. If not, you are only out the $3 for the switch and you know that as well.
