Is it possible to wire the output of a sirius receiver directly to an unused function of an in-dash system?
I would like to hardwire the output of my sirius receiver into the cassette input of my factory installed jbl system on my toyota 4runner.
I currently have an fm modulator, but the sound is still muddled and I constantly have to retune my receiver to get a clear signal.
Any thoughts? thanks....
Either an AUX input adapter (if available) or a hard wired FM modulator with much better quality than what you are currently using (all FM modulators are NOT created equal!). An AUX input adapter can be searched for using our online vehicle selector guide. For an FM modulator, there is one major standout in the field that does not suffer from the same tuning and clarity issues of your current model. This is the Scosche FMMOD02, and I highly recommend it.
Is it a wired or wireless FM modulator? What Sirius unit are you using? If it is a wireless FM modulator (which it sounds like if you are constantly forced to retune it) in conjunction with a dockable PnP Sirius unit, then you might want to look into getting a wired FM modulator. The sound quality is much better, and you essentially eliminate all static and need to retune. If it is a wired, then there is either a wiring problem, or an aux input adapter is needed.
What year is your 4runner? Depending on the year, you may be able to find a factory adapter to add an auxillary input. This adapter works with 06-07 4-runners.

are you using a wireless or wired fm mod? if you have to retune your fm mod it sounds like you are using the wireless option that comes with most sirius units. you might want to try using the FMDA25 fm mod supplied by sirius and unplugging the diversity antenna on the back of your radio. i have never had a problem with tuning or returning an fm station when using an FMDA25
JacobDrop me a line if you have any further questions
Hi - I had a wired fm modulator installed by tweeter (prior to them going out of business). That was about 3 years ago. thanks ..
AUX input is probably your best bet in that case, but you are looking at either a new head unit or an AUX input adapter.
They are hard to find, but there are cassette adapters that would likely work, but I don't know how much of an improvement in sound quality you would see.
Hope This Helps!!!
