I have a '04 Dodge Quad cab and currently have the Infinity 6032si installed in the rear doors. I'm looking for a more powerful speaker with the 2 ohm load. I would really like to buy the Infinity Kappa 62.9i but it says it doesn't fit my doors (no explaination, just doesn't fit) I can't figure it out...some of the component speakers that do fit have the same cutout dia. needed for new install..plz can someone shed some light on this for me and plz recommand a good alternitive.......ty

When it comes to speaker fit, cutout diameter is a small portion of the parameters reviewed. The other fit dimensions that need to be taken into consideration include mounting depth, mounting height, magnet diameter and both major and minor apex measurements when dealing with oval shaped speakers (not the case here). Here at Crutchfield we take it upon ourselves to break down and research all measurements in house to ensure accuracy. We are the only retailer who does this.

That said, I tried to see what may be the specific issue here. For a '04 Dakota Quad cab, the issue is mounting height. The mounting height of the 62.9i is twice that of the stock allotment. This is basically the same issue for the '04 Ram Quad cab.

Could be the installation depth of the speakers.

Cool

could be? the Infinity Kappa 62.9i top-mount depth is 2 3/8" (and a cutout for new install at 5 1/16") according to CF but 3 1/4" according to Sonic Electronix, I don't really know. The components that fit (Infinity Kappa 60.9cs) has a top-mount of 2 1/2" and a cutout for new install at 5 1/8". Kinda puzzling to me.Stick out tongue

typically the reason they say that they will not fit is that it is not a direct replacement without using speaker brackets. in all honesty you shouldn't have a problem if you're not scared to use a drill and some self tapping screws. you shouldn't have a problem with the swap from the 6032si to the 62.9i because the different in mounting depth is only 3/8"

Yea that's what I was kinda thinking. CF said I was going to have to drill with the 6032i speakers but they came with Plastic mounting rings (Chrysler/GM) which made it a snap

plus, the brackets tend to subtract 1/4 - 3/8" from the mounting depth because they move the speaker away from the mounting surface. you can reuse those brackets for the new kappas.
