I think we should have an area to show off our stuff and skillz!!!!Big Smile An area where we can post pics and videos, of the equipment and install install. Everything from the tear down to and thru the build!

I have been spending some time on another  forum that has one, and I can't get enough. I love looking at other peoples builds always looking for new ideas.

Not sure if I am suppose to post other websites but here is the the members build area of the site I been checking out.  http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/index.php?showforum=13

(If posting another site is against the rules please just delete the link and sorry in advance)

Great idea - I'd like to see it too, but since the forum doesn't even allow you to upload pictures as attachments, I think it might be a bandwidth issue.  CF does have the Customer car showroom, but it only allows three or four pix.

Links to non-competitor sites is acceptable and SMD is fine - if you want to be really awestruck, check out his personal builds.

Here's another site worth checking.

And one on the gray side of acceptability - but some cool things.

Hope This Helps!!!

How we could get around the bandwith issue is to post the pics with a site such as photo bucket and embed the code for pics and videos.  I think that would be cool also, maybe a how to section, With steps on how to do things like glass, or even instruction on building a good box, to match your subs.

We can do that now - I abused the system here, although I can't call it a build thread.  Not everyone wants a photobucket account just for CF photos, though.

All we really lack though is the forum - I like the idea, so I'll recommend it and see where it goes ....

Thanks for the suggestion!

Cool stuff guys -

First I would like to post a couple of links and then get into the discussion of how to make this happen -

  1. You can check out the Customer Car Showroom
    1. The number of photos allowed was recently upgraded from 5 to 10 so you can include more pictures
  2. You can find info about inserting a picture here:
    1. http://community.crutchfield.com/forums/t/79.aspx

Of course this does not cover home products (with the showroom) or installs where you want to post many pictures -

We could certainly start a forum for this kind of thing, but Don and I have also talked about the possibility of creating a group for this - The group idea would basically be setting up what amounts to a micro-community around showing off your stuff - potentially including not just forums - but also wiki's - maybe even a blog or pages to spotlight really impressive builds -

As far as the ability to upload photos and video, it is certainly an issue we are trying to work out . This is not so much an issue of bandwidth as it is of storage space (as you can imagine storing photos and videos from lots of people adds up quickly). For now I would recommend using one of the photo hosting services - I have used the following in the past - skydrive.live.com, flickr.com, zooomr.com, divshare.com along with several others - If you are just looking to host some photos - any of those should work fine (as would sites like photobucket)
