I've got a 2003 VW Golf Gls, when I put that into the vehicle selector here it tells me I can only fit single din sized radios in my car. But I'm pretty sure the radio that came with it is double din. It's a CD-Cassette combo. Is there a way to tell if a DD sized radio will fit?

My main concern is that if I get a single din sized unit, that I'll have tons of dead space around the unit and will kind of ruin the flow of the console.

Thoughts, advice?

Hey jeremysolt,

While the opening in your dash is definitely large enough to accommodate the chassis of a double-din stereo, there isn’t an easy way to secure the stereo once it’s in there. The stereo would leave little room for the fabrication of brackets to hold it in place. I’m sure it’s been done, but it takes a level of customization that we feel is beyond the average do-it-yourselfer. So if you can find a way to build your own mounting system, then you can definitely get a double-din in there.

Here is a picture of the mounting kit that we have to fill in the gaps of a single-din.

I hope that helps.
