I have the Niles ABA-1D in wall A-B speaker selector. I got it so I could hook a pair of speakers up on the other side of my basement. I hooked the speakers into the switch but only one set(the original pair of speakers I had up) work. I have done all of the following:
1 Switched the speakers on the A-B switch to see if it was the switch. When I swtiched the working pair to B, it still worked and the other speakers still did not work.
2 Brought a pair of speakers I had set up upstairs that worked fine on another setup to see if the speakers were bad. The "new" pair of speakers didn't work either.
3. Tried a different speaker wire(from the same wire the working speakers are from). Still I get nothing.
I unplugged my receiver and reattached every wire but I still only get sound fro the original speakers. Any ideas?
Thank you for you time.
Mike
The only thing I can think of is to try a different switch or use the A/B function on the receiver.
Double check your wiring. This unit will switch two sources to a single speaker pair or two speaker pairs to a single source.
I've redone the wiring a couple times to make sure that isn't the problem. I hooked the 2nd pair of speakers directly into my receiver to make sure they work and they do. I have tried two different pair of speakers with two different speaker wire in both the A and B spots. I've redone the entire setup so many times, I hope I got it right once.
That is a weird problem.
What kind of speakers/receiver are you using? What size wire and how long are the runs?
I have a Sony receiver. The pair of speakers that work in the setup are Sony with a run of about 10 feet. The other pair of speakers are Pioneer on about a 30 foot run. I am using 14 gauge wire.
