I am trying to install these speakers on my 96 accord ex and found out I needed to buy spacers to fit them. I have bought two sets of spacers already with both claiming to fit 6.5 inch speakers. However, each pair of spacers did not fit over the Phoenix Gold RSD6.5cs woofer. The spacers are stuck with about half an inch of the speaker mounting holes.

Is the PG set of speakers require a different spacer size? I do not have the tools or skills to make my own spacer sadly.

There are two different versions of 6.5" speakers. Standard 6.5" and 6.5" Oversized. Cructhfield calls the 6.5" Oversized speakers 6 3/4" speakers. It sounds like you have the oversize version. (I was unable to confirm the cutout of the speaker since it's not provided on their site)

The oversize 6.5 speakers have a larger cutout than a standard 6.5" speaker and won't fit the brackets normally sold for standard 6.5" speakers.

You'll need to file out the opening of the brackets or make your own to use them with the speakers you have.

Hello stukovx,

Sorry to hear you are having trouble installing the Phoenix Gold speakers you have. We do not carry that particualr brand, but based on our research, you should not need an extra adapter for most 6 1/2" speakers to install them in your doors. The 6 1/2" speakers that we carry can be installed by cutting out the back of the factory mounting cup and using the factory speaker brackets that you already have installed in the vehicle.

I hope this helps and you get it up and running.
