Hi everyone. I really need to find a receiver and buy one quick. I'LL be using it for both home theatre and listening to music> I'm so broke it hurts so I'll need to spend less than 500 US and just want to get the most bang for my buck.
Can I please get some recommendations? I don't have much time so please don't fire too many questions back at me, just through something out there so I can start looking.
I greatly appreciate the help!
thanx

First off, this is the car audio forum.
When you say "home theatre", are you talking about 5.1 channel DVD for the car, or do you mean a home receiver?
If for the car, what year and model car and what other features are you looking for?
If for the home, do you already have speakers and if so, what kind are they?
Thanks!

I just have a logitech speaker system that i paid $500, but maybe later on, I could get some nicer ones.
thanx,
oh ya, i should mention it's a 5.1 speaker set.
Hello Clax.
I have a couple of recommendations for you:
If you need just a reciever [i.e. you already have speakers and subwoofer] than you can look at the Onkyo line of AVR's.
Both the Onkyo TX-SR507 and the Onkyo TX-SR607 fall under your budget number and provide great performance.
If you need a whole kit [Home Theater In the Box] HTIB than I recommend that you look at the Onkyo-HT-S5200. It has all the bits and pieces you need, plus it's upgradeable for later down the line.
If these don't help, let me know and we'll work to fine tune a solution for you.

Thanx Srossfuss!
I haven't bought anything yet and I will look into those ones!
anyone else has any input of comments?

Also if you are still shopping and not stuck to a particular brand, you can click this link: AVR's filtered to your criteria Yamaha, Denon and Onkyo would be high on my personal shopping list with Onkyo at or near the top. But this is my personal opinion.
