Finally got around to posting my trunk build...
Go easy on me, as it was the first time working with fiberglass on this scale.
Customizable splash screen, and color matched buttons to interior lighting.
Sirius unit tucked safely away in the glovebox.
Old and new tweeter assemblies.
Old and new woofer assemblies.
Amp rack base.
Amp rack base...ready for resin.
Amp rack base glassed, carpeted, with fans installed. Center fan is intake, side fans blow across amps.
Sub enclosure.
Trunk contours.
Attaching trunk contour glass to enclosure, ready for resin.
Finished trunk. (Still have to clean up around the free-air 6x9s, but you get the idea...
02 BMW 330Ci, Alpine DVI-9965, Alpine MRA F350 5ch, Alpine MRP T220 + 2x Kicker 6x9 FreeAir, Kicker KX1200.1 + Alpine 12" Type-R, 2-Way Security, Keyless Entry, Remote Start
Nice - very clean.
If you hadn't shown the earlier pics, I wouldn't know the amp rack was where it is!!!
(Are you going to put a grille on the sub for when someone throws golf clubs in the trunk?)
2002 Ford Focus Sony CDX-GT410u Sony XT-100HD HD Tuner Stock speakers, no amp, no subs
TigerHeli:Nice - very clean.
Thanks!

The piece that I showed is basically just air ducting so the fans weren't exposed and could still blow towards the cabin across the amps. The actual amp rack is under the flat piece that has the fan vent.

I have been debating whether to buy an Alpine grill or continue with the stealth motif and cover the sub with color matched speaker cloth backed with metal rod supports.

Right - what I meant was in the last pic, it just looks like the floor of the trunk slopes up for no apparent reason from the factory. You have to think back to the earlier post to realize the amps are under there.
Yeah - I like a bit of both approaches - I wonder what it would look like if you used an Alpine grille and spray-painted it gray to match the carpet?

Yeah. I actually contemplated doing the whole build in the spare tire well for a completely stealth look, but just couldn't get myself to give up the spare. I have never had a flat, but I know that as soon as I removed the spare, it was bound to happen. With all the modifications to the trunk, I still maintained full access and usability of the spare tire and jack!

I don't think it would look bad, but it would stick out more, and you could still see the sub cone very easily through the metal mesh.
I would hate giving up the spare as well - although many new cars just come with a can of Slime unless you pay extra for a donut spare.
The actual Alpine grilles look like a pretty fine mesh online, but I haven't seen them in person - you could always glue window screening or black cloth behind it.
Hope This Helps!!!
