Hello everyone, writing today in search of options and advice on how to go about this.

I've got an Onkyo TXSR605 receiver setup in my living room.  Sony Bravia TV, Playstation 3 as my Blu-Ray and the HD Cable box.

Friend of mine recently moved in and she wants to hook up her X-box to the Television.  I was against this because I don't particularly care for the X-Box but she's of course going to get her way lol.

Now on to the problem.  My receiver has 2 HDMI ports in the back, one being occupied by the Playstation, one occupied by the HD Cable Box.

My Bravia TV has an extra HDMI input that is not being used but I don't know if I'd be able to hook it up to that but still get the sound out of the surround sound system.  I've looked into some of the HDMI switchers but again, not sure if that would be the best option.

Any help would be appreciated

An HDMI switch would be fine, as long as you get an "active" or powered, switch...I don't have very much faith in the passive units. BUT, there is another option...Your Bravia should have a digital optical output, HDMI to the Bravia, send the Optical Signal from the Bravia to the Receiver, and depending on the age of the Xbox, it SHOULD have the dongle needed, you just supply your own cabling...

It's a newer Xbox so I think that would work.  I hadn't thought of the Optical port, think my reciever has two of them free as well.  I'll have to dig out the manual and see about hooking it up that way, thanks much
