Hi guys i have read alot on  the web speaker/enclosure placement in a trunk . there's so many answers about about it. and i know that i should test out the placement of my box to find out what sounds best but i need my people advice. ok hears the info . i have a 1990 Chrysler new yorker i have cut the fire wall out of the back of the car so i could build a bigger box . i build a three hole ported sub woofer box  for 12's. its h16/w39/d32 so thats 16x39x32 and that puts me in the 11 cu.ft box range now i have 2 slots ports thats 14.5" /h and 3" wide that should put me around a tune 36-38hz  and should put me down to around 9 cu.ft now i am running 2 Brutus bx12d4's and one dd1512d4 on a old school lanzar opti 50c  with a ohm load of 1.3 now  car alt is 120amps and i have four bat cap 400,s in the back and one car battery in the front . now the box i facing forward into the cabin. now it hits around 138db in the cabin and 147 at the port now the ports are at the back of the box on each side.and that puts the ports in  the very back of  the trunk because the box is so big. now would i be able to increase my spl by turning  the box around so the the ports are in the cabin and the speakers are facing rear toward the trunk

Normally it's best to aim ports toward a corner of your vehicle.  I really doubt you would get an improvement by turning the box around.  The way you have it now is probably the best it's gonna get.  You didn't mention the length of your vents.  If you want to tune it at 36hz they would need to be about 15" long each.  Not doubting you, just checking.

i thnik the vents are14.5" in height x 3" long and the port legth is 14"  on each side. we did a termlab at my local audio store and the box put out 138db in the car and 147 at the port at 48hz. with around 12.7 volts i know that it should be around 13.5-14 volt at adle but my battery iso was stoping me from getting to 13-14volts so i took it out and now  iam at 13.5  . now thats why i asked about turning the box around so that the ports  are in the car . because the box is so big it takes up the whole car trunk plus some. and with the box pushed all the way back so that the trunk lid just closes it puts the ports right in the corner's of the car. what would happen if  iseald the ports andmade a port out of the middle in the box so that way i will be working with just 2 dd 2512 and i will have the port in the car

At 14" length, you should be tuned about 37hz.  Where did the pair of 2512's come from?  how many subs you got, anyway?  I'm a bit lost, there's 3 different subs listed in your thread.  Write down what subs you're running currently, and what you plan to use, if it's different.

Every car and setup is different so theres no way to tell you for sure what the results will be. However, from my experience subs facing towards the rear will produce the best results. And giving your ports more room to breath could definitely increase the SPL as well.

I'd say go for it, worse case senario you get a decrease in SPL so you flip it back the way it was. The only way to find out is by trying Wink

I did turn the box around but it was tearing my trunk apart i didn't like the way it sounded. so i went ahead and brought the 2 2512's and made the middle hole for the sub a port. the port is 10x10 and 4 in's in length it should put  me around 40hz so i will let yall know what going on with the box
