I have a JVC head unit with a SIR-JVC1 Sirius tuner connected. I am looking to possibly get an XM tuner for it as well (for the baseball coverage). Is there any way of hooking up the XM radio to the JVC and be able to toggle between SIRIUS and XM directly on the one head unit? Or can only one be connected at all times?
I thought about getting a portable XM radio and then maybe be able to get something similar as the SC-VDOC1 to hook it up to the JVC unit, but apparently there is no such equipment available for XM radios. Would still want to be able to toggle between SIRIUS & XM on the one head unit, but maybe this isn't possible.
I haven't heard of an (easy) way to do this.
Since they merged, I think you can add XM to your Sirius subscription, but you would need a new Sirius tuner that can handle merged or combined content (a la carte programming) (StarMate 5 supports this).

Actually, I do have a Starmate 5 SIRIUS radio as well. Yes, you can add XM to your "compatible" SIRIUS radio. I have actually done this with my Starmate 5. Added "Best of XM' to it, but that unit is in the wife's vehicle My current JVC tuner for the car is not 'best of XM' compatible so hence the reason I was hoping I could add an XM tuner of some sort in case I wanted to have it in the car.
I have thought about the AUX port too and might just wind up doing that. I would of liked to do something like your suggestion #2, but from what I have been told, XM PnP radios are not compatible with the SC-VDOC1 hardware. And there is no comparable version of it for XM equipment either.
I've heard some rumblings from the rumor mill that a XM dock similar to the VDOC1 may be on the way, but no guarantees there, just hearsay at the moment.
