I have a Nissan UD1300 truck. It came with a Pioneer Super Tuner III installed.I see it uses a plug that connects to the trucks wires . I see the newer Pioneers have the same plug end.Is this same plug used by others/most makers? Can I buy a new reciever and just plug it in?
I would like to put in a Jensen 9413,with HD radio and backup camera.
When you say the Harness to the Pioneer is connected to the UD harness ... Do you mean it is spliced into the harness or do you mean that essentially it is part of the factory harness?
Three things:
If you don't mind splicing into your existing wiring, you can figure out what to connect like this. If you don't want to cut the factory wiring, you could use something like an add-a-circuit to run the power wires and run new speaker wires in parallel with the original wiring to the speakers.
Hope This Helps!!!
Anyone else have suggestions?

Short answer is no. The reason, even if by chance it does fit in the back of another brand receiver, the chance that the individual wire locations for power, ground, speaker outs, dimming, power antenna, etc. on the harness to match the HU you are trying to plug it into are very unlikely to match. Even if you install another Pioneer it is likely not to match. I have used a very old Pioneer CD player's harness on a slightly newer Pioneer HU (both before MP3/WMA decks were made) and the wiring diagram on the unit even showed the wires were incorrectly located. For example, I believe I had the Yellow 12V constant wire and Black ground wire end up being speaker outs. My point is that if you try to plug and play, you will likely ruin the new HU and possibly cause damage to your truck's electrical system.
Then, what I can't figure is they sell a factory harness to hook up the different recievers. Is there a seperate harness for each reciever and car?The only install instructions I can find just say to use the factoy harness. In the old days you just joined the wires together, with solder and tape.
I could see older harnesses being different. This truck is a 2006 and does have mp3.
I am not quite following what you are asking.
Metra or other companies sell a harness that plugs into the UD factory harness. If you have a Pioneer radio in it - the installer PROBABLY used one of those harnesses (if they didn't just cut the wires), and you could cut the Pioneer plug off and use the Metra/UD harness.
If you get a newer Pioneer radio you PROBABLY can use the harness from the old Pioneer but you would want to verify that the same wires were used in the same pin locations. They SHOULD be, but you want to verify that before you hook it up and fry something.
Jensen most likely does not use the same proprietary plug as Pioneer, so with a Jensen, you likely need to cut the Pioneer plug off and solder on the Jensen plug.
Metra used to sell "Smart Harnesses" which would be a Jensen plug and a UD plug that connected together, but most people didn't want to spend $20 twice just to avoid soldering 13 pairs of wires together.
I have not found ANY harness to fit my UD1300. If I could find one I wouldn't care about the extra dollars to get the solderless harness. The harness to the Pioneer is connected to the UD harness. It was installed at the factory.I just need something with more volume, since my truck is a diesel, with cab over engine.
Actually the Pioneer installed does have a harness plugged into the factory harness.I was told by UD that it will work with most of the present Pioneer stereos. They gave me a list of compatible models. The wires are all correctly color coded and tagged also,so clipping the connector and adding the Jensen connector should be a snap, since i can unplug the harness and do the connection change in the open. My main question was about HOW the different recievers are wired.Do they use a plug in adaptor or are they just a bunch of wires sticking out of the back of the reciever? Do the adaptors come in the box with the reciever? All the places that sell recievers in this town have the boxes sealed and in locked cabinets. If i could see the contents,I am sure I would know the best way to install it.By the way my truck is a Nissan UD,but it is not built by Nissan. It is a Volvo company.
Okay - I see where you are coming from.
Yes, when you buy the new receiver (if you buy new - used you might need to verify), it will have it's own harness in the box and that will have wires that normally are spliced to the vehicle adapter harness.
The CF picture looks like spaghetti:
but if you look on page (44 - Electronic, 4-Printed) of the manual, you can see the harness and where it plugs in. (For the DVD, there are some additional connections, but that bottom harness is all you need for the radio to work.)
In your case, it is pretty simple:
