I have a small car with a strut brace in the trunk. I am looking to put a box between the strut bar and seat. The only things that will fit are truck boxes. I found 2 different sealed ones. One is .74cubic in and the other is .85cubic in. I suppose a 12" sub would be my best bet for the best bass. I need help finding a sub to fit in there because most of the subs have a minimum sealed volume of 1 or 1.25 cubic inch. If i put a sub with a minimum of 1.25 in a .74 box how much will the sound be affected? Thanks.

My recommendation is to either build a box of your own to optimize the enclosure space, or use a 10" sub.  A single powerful 10 in a .85 ft box will likely outperform a 12 incher as far as deep bass extension, and that's about the perfect size for most 10 inch subs so you'd have plenty to choose from.  If the number 12 has a special significance to you that can't be ignored, i think the Pioneer shallow mount is a better sounding sub than the Kenwood.   If money is not a concern, the JL 13TW5-3 is the only one to get.

Hello snwsk8r8 and welcome to the Crutchfield forums!

Because of the limited box volume, I recommend checking out the shallow mount subwoofers. They do tend to work better in smaller boxes. One great option is the Kenwood KFC-WS12. If you go with a subwoofer that requires a larger box, you can use polyester fiber stuffing It will slow down the sound waves and make the subwoofer perform as if it were in a bigger box.

Anyone with personal experience with this?
