i have a 1998 acura integra ls coupe. the speakers are 6 1/2" front and back. i need help choosing speakers. i currently have the factory head unit. i plan on changing that after i do speakers. i do not plan on adding an amp to the speakers. also i do not want to add a subwoofer in the trunk. i want good sounding speakers with good bass. i heard good things about the infinity reference speakers. i heard they have good mids and highs but the bass is not so good. so i was thinking about getting them in the front and speakers that have better bass in the back. my budget is 200$ max, and 200$ is pushing it. can you please help me choose speakers. thanks.

 btw i listen to everything from rap to techno to heavy metal

 

Pioneers are usually well known for their bass output. And since the speakers are 6.5", that should work real well. :)

Agreed on the Pioneer's.

Also, IMHO, you would get more for your money if you upgraded the front speakers and the HU first and added an amp for the front speakers, and left the rears stock or disconnected them, but that's up to you.

The Infinity Reference speakers are great!  I put 4 of them in my truck to replace the factories.  But I also added a little sub to make up for the lack of base.  Mids and highs are absolutely wonderful.

the ts-a's are 35 watt rms. will that be a problem if i crank the bass on the stereo or will they not be able to handle a new HU at high volume?

If you are buying a new HU, then, you won't need ot worry, as there is  not a single aftermarket HU out there that does 35+ watts RMS.

Even with a aftermarket radio, or your stock radio, you will be fine. That is, unless you have an amp that is like 40x4 hooked up or something.

I actually didn't notice that wattage.  They would actually be fine with a 40W amp - want to be careful if you hear distortion.  OTOH, if I were upgrading, I would want to be able to put a 60-80W amp on them, and they probably won't do that - but you said you didn't want to amp them anyway, so ...
