I see many SDARS (Satellite Digital Audio Radio Service) set top units that are either specific to a head unit or to a car maker. My factory has a CAN BUS input (which I assume is for the data) plus signal input. Wouldn't any CAN BUS IO-compatible device be controllable

Sportster 5 Hard wire install

Guys,

I tried to install my sportster 5 radio and hard wire it to the remote wire to my stereo, after testing the wires i am getting the correct wire and voltage from teh brown/white remote wire on the harness, however when i connect the wires i dont get any power, i also tried to connec tto the orage wire and still no power but as soon as i rehook up the cigarette lighted adaptor to the wire i get power to the sirius.

any suggestions?

trying to install SIRIUS in a condo

I have a family member in Florida who will be moving into a high rise condo next month. I am flying down there next month to help them with the move and they have asked me to help them get SIRIUS installed in this new condo unit.

Now, I have not see the actual place yet since I live in GA so I am not sure where they will have the SIRIUS in respect to a window facing North (for the antenna). I originally thought maybe I could go with the SIRIUS Echo home signal repeater system somehow, but I now see that it has been discontinued.

This condo is located in the Ormond Beach area (just outside Daytona Beach) so a terrestrial signal is probably not an option either. Any other suggestions on how to maybe install SIRIUS without knowing too much about the geographical aspects of the unit

one SIRIUS unit for multiple vehicles

I currently have a Starmate 5 plugged into an AUX port on a 2007 Honda Odyssey. I also have a JVC KD-AR880 head unit with a SIRIUS tuner/adapter (older one piece unit from about 2006). I was thinking of trying to combine the two vehicles somehow by using the Starmate 5 in both & therefore not having to pay for two subscriptions. Rather just the one subscription since I'm really only in one car at any given moment. Plus, my Starmate 5 has 'Best of XM' and my JVC tuner isn't best of XM compatible anyway so I wanted to be able to get BOXM on the JVC in a inexpensive manner.

Can I use the SC-VDOC1 with the Starmate 5 & my JVC KD-AR880. I'm hoping so since it from only about 2007. I realize I would then also have to get the KS-SRA100 adapter as well, but just wondering if this is feasible.

Also, while I have the Starmate 5 currently hooked up to the AUX port on my Honda Odyssey, I was thinking I might be able to do a similar setup with the SC-VDOC1 in this Honda. I would then transfer the Starmate 5 back and forth between the two vehicles. Therefore I could then also use the full steering wheel controls to maybe change channels as well as volume control AND see the track info on the stock stereo. I would simply pair it up with the SiriusConnect HON-SC1 adapter, correct? Is this possible as well? Or can just the SC-C1 tuner only be used with the HON-SC1 adapter? Just curious about my options here.

I just bought a truck and noticed that it has a sirius radio antennea on the roof. It is obvious that it was installed as an aftermarket. I have the Pioneer DEH-9800BT that I am going to install in this truck,I've never had sattelite radio and want it,can I utilize the existing antennea and cable. I believe the cable is up by my sun visor. PLEASE HELP!

Alpine CDA-9884 and SIR-ALP1

so i've got an alpine cda-9884 and an alpine sir-alp1 for my sirius, all of a sudden it stopped working the other day. now my head unit wont even recognize my sirius. i look inside of the sir-alp1 and there is a blinking orange light, blinking in some kind of order. has anyone else run into this? and does anyone knwo what the blinking lights mean?

I have a 2007 GMC Sierra with built in XM Radio. I am installing a AVIC-Z2 unit. my question is does anyone know if i can use my existing antenna. I don't want to use the one that comes with the xm module that works with the new avicz2.. I have looked for an adapter and I am not finding anything. thanks for any info you can provide.

Hello Folks,

I just installed an Alpine iDA-X100 headunit, Sirius SCC1 and Alpine KCA-SC100 SIRIUS Adapter. The sirius music comes out fine, but it does not show the artist or song. The screen just shows "001ch".

I read through the whole manual and I can't figure it out. I also called crutchfield and the representative took me through all of the settings--which were set correctly--and concluded that the radio needed to sync with the Sirius satillete for awhile to get that information. I am not so optimisitic, as I left it running for an hour and it still shows "001ch" instead of the artist and song.

In addition, when I click channel search, it brings up all of the current artists and songs playing, but when I actually select a channel, it has the channel number and not the artist/song displayed.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

How to install Sirius with a Pioneer radio?

I've read some FAQs and forum questions here, but I'm still a little unclear about how to make my stereo work as I want it to.

I have a 2009 Toyota RAV4 with built in XM Radio. I have from my previous vehicle, a Sirius Sportster 5 with Lifetime subscription. I'm looking to upgrade my radio, and use my Sirius LT subscription. I'd like, if possible, to control everything from the dash radio instead of the Sportster, and be able to see full song name and artist on the in-dash radio. And since I'm going to upgrade the radio, I might as well get one with HD tuner built in too.

I'm looking at the JVC Arsenal KD-AHD59 as the radio since it has HD radio tuner built in and is "Satellite Ready". Can I use the Sportster as the satellite receiver to plug into the radio and still use the radio controls to do everything? Or is there something else I need? Can I use the satellite antenna already run for the XM built-in radio? My ultimate goal is to have everything work as it does now (control everything through dash radio) but use my Sirius subscription instead of paying for XM that comes in the car, and do this with the least amount of installation required (which I will pay a professional to do).

Questions about the XMp3 in regards to maximum compatibility of configurations

I was looking at purchasing the XMp3 portable satellite radio adapter and was curious about a few things:

First, I have an aux in on my car stereo, will it work with that?

Second, do they make fm transmittors like the itrip for this specific portable portable satalite radio so that I can listen to it pretty much anywhere I can get signal? (Albeit with a greatly reduced sound quality compared to the aux in)

Finally, Do they have car chargers for them that would allow me to charge it while playing through the aux in/fm transmittor?

Sirius channel number display stopped working

I have a Kenwood KDC-X692 that was installed by the Crutchfield installers. Great job by the way About 2 weeks ago, the satellite channel number display stopped working. The channel name, artist name, song, etc works fine, but I can't get the channel number to show up any more. No matter which display choice I make, the channel number doesn't show up. The channel number is still displaying in my other car, so I don't think it is a Sirius issue - Kenwood maybe ? Any ideas? Thanks.

JVC KT-SR2000 Sirius radio - poor FM connection in base.

The JVC KT-SR2000 Sirius radio I have is not getting a good connection at the base dock for the FM out. If I give the radio itself a slight twist, I get a complete contact and have full left and right speaker output. Once I let off the twist, the left channel has very little output. I am sure the problem is in the radio unit. Anyone know if and how this can be fixed?

have a xm xpress r plug and play . using the scoche aux cable from the dock to the pioneer aux. sounds great.but every now and again , the audio cut out, but briefly. you can hardly notice. buts its there.could i have a bad cable . only had a few months

Sirius Starmate 5

I have a 2008 Chrysler Sebring Convertible with the factory AM/FM Stereo/cd player. I purchased a new factory AM/FM Stereo with satellite, mp3 from ebay for the same vehicle. Should I be able to swap one for the other and be able to pick up satellite radio (Assuming I have subscribed to the service) or is there something more I would need to do? (Different antenna?)

Trouble with Delphi Xpress RC with repeater

I installed a Delphi Xpress RC with a repeater for my mother and it's driving me crazy with two issues.

1) It "cuts out" every once in a while. I thought I had resolved this by moving the repeater antenna, but she says it still goes silent for a couple of seconds every 20 seconds or so. It's not a fixed time interval. The "no signal" indicator does not come on.

2) She listens through a "pillow speaker" that's under her pillow. So naturally it has to be pretty loud to get through all that. When she listens to the AM/FM radio all is swell, but the XM volume isn't enough even when the line-out volume is set to the maximum.

I'm going there again tomorrow. Any tips would be appreciated!

XM Reception Change

Wondering if anyone has recently experienced decreased reception from XM on the terrestrial (sic?) signal. I have a Polk I-Sonic and used to get 4 bars on the terrestrial signal , but recently began getting 1 or 0 bars. Unfortunately, I have an east facing window, so getting 1 bar on the satellite signal is pretty much a hit and mostly miss proposition. Has anyone experienced a similar signal loss.

To fix the problem, I want to get the Delphi repeater antenna, which I can aim out a west facing window and hopefully grab a strong satellite signal. Just want to ensure all XM functions will still work on my XM-ready Polk I-Sonic.
