To clarify the connection I was referring to, there are two DIN connections on the tuner. One of these DIN connections goes from the tuner to the Kenwood receiver. The other is a connection that would connect to a separate Kenwood unit such as a CD changer to allow both devices to connect to the one DIN connection on the Kenwood receiver without using an adapter. If the pass-thru connection is connected to the receiver, then the signal will not reach the Kenwood receiver.

Re: Problems with SIR-KEN1 and KDC-891

I have the same exact set up . I have the same exact problem. I have tried to reset the unit twice & still can not get SAT to show as a source . Malcolm ..what do you mean by another possibility is that the DIN connection on the Sirius tuner might be plugged into the pass-through input rather than the output to the HU.

Sometimes, the Kenwood HU's simply need to be reset after the Sirius tuner is connected for it to recognize it as a source. Another possibility is that the DIN connection on the Sirius tuner might be plugged into the pass-through input rather than the output to the HU. Give those a try and good luck!

Just installed the SIR-KEN1 to the KDC-X891 HU and it won't read it. I can't seem to get "sat" to come up as a source. Everything else works and all connections are correct. Am I missing something really simple or is there a programming trick? Everybody says these are compatible. Thanks for the help.
