New Games to look forward to:

I thought I might drop in and see what games some of us are looking forward to this year.

So far I am anticipating many scary moments with F.E.A.R.2 [which might be out by now]

The game that I am really looking forward to is from UbiSoft. It's names "I am Alive" and appears to be a human survival game without zombies. Which I think would be a neat twist. No release date for this one yet, but it will be on PC, Xbox and PS.

Anyone else looking forward to some good stuff this year?

Red Ring of Death

Well it finally happened. After 14 months of quality gaming time, my Xbox decided it had had enough and began displaying the three red lights.

Actually, I did get some forewarning; a few weeks back, I cut the console on to play some Dead Space, loaded my last save and when I started moving the character, the screen froze. I shut down the console (as it had completely locked up) and powered it back on to see the flashing red lights. I turned it off and then back on with no problems. Since that time, I began and finished Gears of War 2 and started Fallout3.

Tuesday morning it decided not to cooperate anymore. Each time I powered up the console, I got the three red lights, no video, no audio, just those maniacal lights winking at me over and over.

I decided not to wait for a “Coffin” from Xbox and packed it up myself, printed my own shipping label, and sent it off to the service center Tuesday afternoon.

We’ll see how long it takes to get it repaired and returned to me. I’ll post back with updates if anyone’s interested.

xbox 360 video splitting

My kids want to record their xbox gaming. I picked up a Pinnacle Video capture card. The xbox 360 is attached to an HD tv via component cables. I had hoped to grab a signal from the unused composite video cable also attached to xbox 360 HD video cable setup. Alas, it appears that there is no signal on the composite cable when the component connection is active.

I'm about to rerun xbox setup to tell the xbox it's attached to a nonHD TV, connect the xbox to the TV with the composite cabling, and insert a video distribution amp between the xbox and the tv, sending one signal to the TV and another to the capture card.

Any other ideas?

I need some help. I am using a composite video cable (R-B-G) to connect my Playstation 3 to my TV. However, I am not getting a high def picture. When I connect the Playstation to another TV using HDMI I get the high def. I replaced the composite video cable (R-B-G) and still do not get high def.

PS3 settings for HDMI/DVI

I have a PS3 that I use for gaming and watching Bluray dvds. I have 2 HD tv’s one is an LCD with HDMI ports, the other and older projection HD tv with component and DVI inputs. The PS3 is mostly hooked to the older television for gaming (it is in my basement so I can hide out), but sometimes I hook it to the other tv for movies because of the better quality picture, using HDMI. When I take it back off the HDMI cable to take it back to the older tv that does not have HDMI, it is a pain in the *** to have to reset the settings in the menu of the PS3 so that it can go back to the generic hookup that comes with the PS3. If I hook it up to the old tv using an HDMI to DVI cable, will it still make me change the setting? Thanks for your help

Here I go again, starting a new thread in the gaming section. Can you blame me though? This title definitely deservers its own thread.

I finally pre-ordered this game today. I can pick it up @ midnight tomorrow but I gotta be @ work early Friday morning so it’s probably best if I pick it up after work and play it Friday night.

I played the original on normal and hardcore to the end. I started it again on “insane” difficulty and realized that it was aptly named. Maybe in co-op it’s possible to beat the game on this setting, but by myself, I barely got through the first chapter.

I’m psyched for the sequel and will have to put “Dead Space” on the back burner for awhile. If I can finish Resistance 2 over the weekend, I can devote most of my limited gaming time to GOW2.

So who else is psyched for this title?

Would it be ok to keep a 360 in a closet? My main concern is ventilation of course. I have never owned one of these and I am thinking about getting one as long as I can keep it with my other a/v equipment in the closet. Thanks

Anyone picking up this title? I will be renting and possibly purchasing if I really like the gameplay.

The initial reviews are simply gushing about the production quality and graphics. I really can't wait to get it in the PS3. It will be nice to have an exclusive title designed specifically for the PS3's capabilities. I was hoping "Haze" would be a nice warmup, but after playing the demo and reading the awful reviews, I decided not to get it.

Hopefully, MGS4 will live up to all the hype.

Let's hear from the rest of you. If you have it, tell us what you think without spoiling the plot too much.

Right now, I'm not sure about the time this game is set in. COD4 was wildly popular and WWII shooters seem to be played out so why go back?

As you probably know, this title is not out yet, but I will definately be purchasing this game the day it is released. I really liked "Fall of Man" which was one of the better "Console Launch Titles" I've ever played.

All the trailers and previews I've seen look great. The online multiplayer looks vast with it's own developing story line.

It's really is nice to eagerly anticipate a PS3 title's release for a change. Here's hoping Sony doesn't find a way to screw this up somehow.

Anyone else excited about getting this title?

Does anyone know if there is a means of transferring downloaded content from one PS3 to another? Use this as an example.

I play rockband and have downloaded a bunch of tracks. I am going over to a friends place who has a PS3 and we want to play the tracks I just downloaded. Instead of taking my entire PS3, can I save it on a memory card and take it with me? If so, how?

Hi, I am new to the forum and so far Mason was helpful on TV's.

Now I finally found a Wii in the store and I bought it. It will bea Cristmas present for my wife.

I will be hiding it for 4 months (god help me) and Iwas wondering if I needed to buy a different connection cable or anything else.

I want to be able to give her the game and have all acceries that I need at the same time.

I also bought The Mario cart bundle with steering Wheel.

The TV I will probably buy by Christmas will be the Samsung LN-52A550. From what I know the Wii only does either 480i or 480 p.

I'd appreciate any advice anyone has for a couple that has never used or setup the Wii.

Power Inverter for PS3

Im looking to put a ps3 in my car. however i have a problem with power. The ps3 will not power on at all. I have a 1000watt modifies sign wave inverter. I started with a simple 150w at first, then came the 350watt inverter, and finally the 1000watt. Im tired of buying inverter that are wrong. Does anyone have a working ps3 in their car?????

i have a 47 jvc lcd tv and hitachi surround sound , i have the ps3 hook to the tv with hdmi , i also have the optical digital audi cable runing from the ps3 to suroundsound but it doesnt work, i cant figure it out cuase the xbox360 hooked up with rca cables plays in surround sound , any help is appreciated

just wondering everyones thoughts on the new GTA. what platform did you purchase it for? i purchased it for the 360. the graphics are un upgrade from san andreas and its not as bad as san andreas as far as cussing and stuff. at first i thought the controls were a little tight when driving and manuevering the character but it just takes a minute to get used to. overall i love the game. i have stuck strictly to the missions and havent done much exploring yet but look forward to doing so. also i have heard that in previous installments of GTA that if you used the cheat codes it wouldnt allow you to finish the game, is that true? look forward to hearing from yall!

WiiWare and other Wii games

I love my Wii. I've got a smidgen of Nintendo fanboy in me, and I'm jealous of the Xbox 360 and PS3 graphics, but I do love my Wii. Though I do have had a hard time finding enough games that I just *love* for it. But I don't play as much as I used to, my wife is a little older than me and is technology/game challenged, my daughter is 6, and my son has his own Xbox 360 now so a Wii just made sense. It is the best family console, hands down.

And now WiiWare is out, and that is A Good Thing. It was released this Monday, May 12 with six games, and more games will come out every Monday. Next week it looks like we can expect seven more. Games go for 500-1500 Wii points, or $5-$15, with most falling under $10. That's the cost of a rental, people!

Has anyone else here looked at WiiWare? What are your thoughts?

Me, I'm wondering if Defend Your Castle is worth $5 when I can play it online with a PC for free. To be fair, the graphics are better on the Wii and there's the whole couch/convenience thing. Oh yeah, and up to four people can play, killing invading stick figures with wild abandon.

My wife likes WiiWare game Pop (puzzle games are her thing) but wasn't completely satisfied. She'll probably forget all about it next week when Dr. Mario Online Rx comes out, and after that Tetris.

Public Service Announcement: I love the Mario Party series and so does my family, but if you're thinking about checking out Mario Party 8 for the Wii, save your money. We couldn't stand it and traded it in for Marble Mania and are glad we did. If we feel like playing a party game we still pull out 5 or 7 for the GameCube.

PS3 and Yamaha HTR-5150

This is my first post, and I've searched the board, but haven't found anything answering my question specifically.

I am using my PS3 for Blu-Ray playback (as well as gaming), and I have an audio question. I have a Yamaha HTR-5150 (circa 1999-2000) that I use as my receiver. It accepts optical audio, but not HDMI video (since the receiver is so old). I have my PS3 hooked up to my HDTV through the HDMI so the TV audio and video is covered, but for surround, I have been trying to use the optical audio to the receiver, but haven't been getting any signal.

Is it possible to have the PS3 send through both the HDMI and Optical Audio? If so, do I need to do anything in the PS3 menu to have it do both? If not, what are my options? I'd like to get high quality audio to my 5.1 system and to my TV (for the times I don't want surround).
