i was wondering if this sub is worth going for? its a power acoustic 12 inch sub.. 500RMS here is the model number : PW212M

seems to be good and ive heard good things about the company but is this specific sub good? and can it take 500RMS from an alpine mrp-m500? thanks alot :D also what price should i buy it for?

Ok guys which enclosure is the best? I know that there is sealed, ported, and bandpass but I don't know which one is best for what I'm wanting. Any opinions on the best bass sounding one?

Sub Enclosure

I am getting ready to build an enclosure for 2 12DVCs. The manufacturer calls for 3 cu. ft. per sub. For porting, they call for 2 3 x11 round ports per sub. The outside box dimensions I plan to use are as follows: 40"w x 16 1/2"h x 22"d. I will be using 1' MDF for the box and a 2x3/4" MDF baffle. I will have a separation panel between the chambers. The internal chamber dimensions are as follows: 18.5"w x 14"h x 20"d.

In the desing, the subs will be firing upward with the ports on the back panel. How will this affect the sound/performance of the subs?

Also, if I were to use a slot vent, how would I calculate the area and length required for the vent?

What would be the best material for porting?

Finally, any suggestions on what glue and type of fasteners to use would be helpful. Thanks

Finding the right sub

I'd like to get a list of all the $200'ish 12" subs stocked by Crutchfield suitable for a 1.3 cu.ft. sealed box, but I'm having trouble finding any way to sort by box volume. Not willing to search the spec's of every mid-priced 12" sub in their catalog, is there a way to do an advanced search or parametric filtering? The search filers they provide always seem pretty useless.

Short of that, does anyone know of another site that DOES allow one to sort subs by recommended box volume? It seems like a pretty basic requirement for anyone searching out a speaker to fit a particular box.

Hey I have a 2009 Dodge Avenger and I just built a custom sealed box for the trunk that has roughly .75 cubic feet of volume. I am looking for a 10" sub ( may build another box and add another sub some day). I have looked into the solobarics a little bit but am not sure. Don't worry about the amp as I will just by one to match. I am only wondering what sub everyone thinks is the best (without spending thousands of dollars on it). Thanks.

i don't know what size amp would be best for my single 12" kicker cvr. Right now i have a mtx 300xd pushing the sub. I have been told i am under powering it. I have been looking at different amps but don't know if i should go with a 400watt or 500watt? I have my set up a 2omh's. should i stay at that 2omh setting?

ALPINE TYPE R WIRING

I have 2 Alpine type R 12's. In a sealed box. I do not know if they are the 2 ohm or 4 ohm model. I am PRETTY sure they are DVC. My friend gave them to me and i don't know for sure. The back of the box has 2 red and 2 black outputs. One red and one black for each sub. I have no clue if they are wired at 4 ohms or 2 ohms and would like them wired at 2 ohms.

I want to make a ported box for them tuned at 32hz. If someone can tell me the dimension's of the box or lead me somewhere to figure them out.

After find out the dimensions and make the box i will take the subs out and find out if they are 4ohm or 2ohm and svc or dvc. and will need help wiring them at 2 ohms in the new ported box.

Well ive rushed into buying a DVC 4ohm Alpine Type R 500 rms(without thinking) and have been searching up the matches and the ohms required.

The amp i was planning to use with this sub was the Soundstream TRA 560.2 specs are :

Number of channels: 2
Output RMS @4 ohms: 140W x 2
Output RMS @2 ohms: 280W x 2
Output RMS bridged @4 ohms: 560W x 1

Is it possible to run the sub efficiently on the TRA 560.2? Or should i start looking for another amp

I have a fiber glassed trunk with an audiobahn a8001dt amp hooked up. it already has 3 audiobahn subs hooked up but I want to replace them. Was thinking about 3 alpine sws-1043 subs or 3 alpine swe-1043 subs. Any suggestions? would this amp power these subs? Im trying to do it myslef cause my local car audio stores tend to screw people over.

I hope someone can help me.

I have a 2009 Yulon Denali with the Bose premium system that includes XM, navigation and a back-up camera. I purchased a JL audio amp and subwoofer enclosure. I took the equipment to a local installer that stated they could do the install.

I inquired with JL Audio prior to the install just to check where to get the feed for the new amp because the person that was to do the installation didn't give me that warm and fuzzy feeling.

Anyway, JL Audio emailed me back and told me to get the amp feed from the factory subwoofer wires. No line converter required. Sounds simple enough.

The installer didnt take the advise. They used a line converter anyway. The system sounded so good when I got it back. About a week after the installation, there is a problem. For no reason at all, the bass goes up full blast and drowns everything else out. It doesn't happen all the time but is getting progressivly worse. Finally got so bad I took the fuse out and cut power to the amp.

Does anyone have a reason why this is happening? JL Audio quit replying to my emails. I am thinking about removing all the equipment and sending back to Crutchfield. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I hope someone has fixed a similar issue.

I just bought the MTX Terminator series sub and amp combo. I wanted to know what kind of capacitor I should get. And I know this might sound dumb, but what can i do about the license plate rattling? My car can only have 2 screws in the plate, and believe me, i have tightned them to the point that some of the paint on the license plate has started to come off. haha

What do all the sub guys think about this wired to bridged channels 3&4 of an Alpine MRP-F300 ? Channels 1&2 will be wired to Infinity components in front doors of an 05 Honda Civic. Sub box will be in trunk. Everything wired with 12 gauge streetwires. Are there straps one can buy to strap a sub box down in a trunk ? Will be taking lame rear deck speakers out. Keeping factory head.

Help for budget setup

I have a small car with a strut brace in the trunk. I am looking to put a box between the strut bar and seat. The only things that will fit are truck boxes. I found 2 different sealed ones. One is .74cubic in and the other is .85cubic in. I suppose a 12" sub would be my best bet for the best bass. I need help finding a sub to fit in there because most of the subs have a minimum sealed volume of 1 or 1.25 cubic inch. If i put a sub with a minimum of 1.25 in a .74 box how much will the sound be affected? Thanks.

I have a JL 10w3v3 sub. The problem is that the enclosure i'm using for it is a formerly 8'' enclosure custom made for my 2001 sentra. The installer told me that i could use this encosure if we made it a 10'' which we did. Now i'm afraid the box is too small. After doing a research i've found that if the enclosure is too small the sound could be affected and so does the sub.(right now the sound is pretty decent but sometimes it lacks presence) JL recommends a .625 enclosure (sealed). Should i get a .625 box? how important is that my box is exactly the size JL recommends? Is poly-fil an option? thank you. i could send a picture if it helps.

hello. i'm looking at getting a single 12" sub to probably be ran in a sealed box (slight chance ported) i am looking for a sub that has about a 700rms and a 1500 watt peak and a class D amp with similar specs (hopefully a smidge under) i was wondering if i should get a 2ohm or 4ohm sub/amp? i would have to guess 2ohm because less resistance = more power. what are the differences here? if an amp states it's 4 ohm rating can i run it at 2 ohms? how does all this work?

Can my box be too big?

I had the Fi audio BL 10" sub for about 2 months now. It blew out the other day. My box is 3.2 cubic feet and tuned to 37 hz. a guy who builds boxes for a living built this box. The guys from fi audio said that it was tuned to high first then they say the box is too big it should be tuned to 33 hz and about 1.5 cubic feet. So could that actually be the reason my sub blew?

I have a DVC JL Audio 10w2v4 (300 watt rms)

and I have a new kenwood 300 watt rms at 2 ohms.

Currently I am running the sub at a 8 ohm's because my old amp was bridged and would not support 2 ohms.. Well not I can run it at 2 ohms. Will switching it from 8 ohms to ohms make it alot louder? and should i do it.

I recently took my subs out of my 96 blazer to help someon move. When I put them back in they started to pop every time I turn on the vehicle and when ever I press any button on the head unit. Also the speakers get sucked into the box and depress after the pop. I have also noticed that the voltage meter in my dash drops when driving and pressing any button on the head unit. but When I just listen to music everythig sounds fine.

I have checked all connections going to the amp and box they are in the correct place. I also tried disconnecting one sub to see if the left or right was bad but had the same results each time. My gain level is only half way, and I turned off all the bass boost options on the amp and head unit. Can someone tell me what I am missing or if this poping even matters?

I bought a dual 12in sub box for 2002 F150 Supercrew. This box has a volume of 1.2 and is sealed is 3/4 mdf and has a sub depth of 8in. I have a Boston Acoustics passive radiator in one of the openings because of the entire internal cavity is open and I didnt want to put two high powered woofers partially because of cost. The other is un wanted distortion. I wanted to find a good woofer that would work well with the passive radiator. The G5 has been discontinued and is getting hard to find. I have found it but would like to use a different woofer. I have a Sony Mobile ES 1000w class D mono amp that is stable to 1ohm. I believe it is a Xm-6001gxd that is with out going out and looking at it. I know the radiator is made for the G5 but I would like use a dual 2ohm woofer making a 1omh load on my amp. I believe the amp puts out 1000watts rms at 1omh and a max of 2400watts. I was wondering if any one had tested the radiator with any other speakers with similar wattages or higher wattages. I know the G5 has a total movement of 3inches and most others dont even put out half of that. Is it Safe to say that most higher wattage speakers will probably work fine because the amout of air it actually moves is less? Wondering if the radiator has been tested to its limits by anyone? What dual 2 ohm sub would work best with this radiator that will fit my box and maximize my amps power outage? Thanks for any info it greatly appreciated
