I have an older projection 1080i HDTV monitor set that is still performing well.  However the sound quality results from HD programming OTA at times is almost unsuable.  This has been explained in part as the digital audio encoding of the signal, where the voice and background signals are not well managed at delivery.  Regardless of the details, I plan on upgrading to a 5.1 or 7.1 HT system (Denon AVR 2808ci or Onkyo TXS806 ).  SInce my unit is a monitor, I have an external HDTV 1080i tuner (HDV420  Zenith) , and I'd love to eliminate the extra componant from the system, or at very least integrate it within the remote so it seems like it.  I understand that recievers by nature have builtin FM tuners, do they also include HDTV tuners as well.

Thanks for the help.

Buffalo,

I do not think there are any HDTV tuners included in those AVR's...  I'm not saying there aren't any out there but I don't think the units mentioned come with a HDTV tuner for OTA signals.

I've never seen a receiver with an HD tuner either.  Some DVD recorders do have them built in though.

That's what I suspected, but I had to ask.  Now the question is can either of the mentioned receivers operate as a master over the OTA tuner mentioned.  The Wife really wants simple and a single remote for a change without spending a fortune would be nice.

Thanks  for the feed back.
