I was looking at purchasing the XMp3 portable satellite radio adapter and was curious about a few things:

First, I have an aux in on my car stereo, will it work with that?

Second, do they make fm transmittors like the itrip for this specific portable portable satalite radio so that I can listen to it pretty much anywhere I can get signal? (Albeit with a greatly reduced sound quality compared to the aux in)

Finally, Do they have car chargers for them that would allow me to charge it while playing through the aux in/fm transmittor?

Thanks for any help you can give!

I answered this post and it doesn't seem to have taken.

The XMp3 comes with a car kit - the car kit will connect to an aux input and will charge the device through the cig lighter.

The car kit also includes an FM transmitter, so you could get a second car kit and use the FM transmitter, although it's a bit bulky and would need a 115V - 12VDC converter for in-home use, so not quite as convenient as an iTrip.

Hope This Helps!!!

Why would I need a second car kit? If I have an FM transmitter, and a cig ligher -> wall outlet converter isn't that all I would need?

Also, it comes with an AC charger too doesn't it?

You wouldn't happen to know what signal quality is like if I just have it laying somewhere in my car do you? I see it comes with what looks like some sort of antenna...

I assumed you might want to hard-wire the first car kit into your primary car - if not, you could take it with you and wouldn't need a second one.

I'm not sure about the AC charger - it might want to charge via USB, but they make AC-USB adapters, so either way you are covered.

I have no idea about signal quality.

Hope This Helps!!!

Anyone else have suggestions?

I just thought I'd point out, that my girlfriend has XM in her car (OEM option) and she gets signal perfectly in town and in the dallas metro area which is where I'd predominately be going. I should have clarified that I meant in comparison to that kind of reciever. Since she gets perfect signal should I expect the same as well?

Also, I'm not interested in hard wiring, I have an aux in stereo plug already hooked up to my car, and will use that with the xmp3, I just wanted to make sure that I can charge it while playing it as well as use the fm transmitter while charging it.

I just found an article referencing the fact that there is an fm transmiter built into the xmp3. Can someone confirm this? Thanks for your help so far

In case it wasn't clear - I do not own the XMp3 - I am basing my info off the manual and this page.

Maybe not - her car undoubtedly has a roof mounted sattelite antenna - the XMp3 has a unit mounted antenna that is going to be inside the glass and steel of the car and somewhat shielded by them.  OTOH, the XMp3 is designed to work inside buildings and houses, and outside with tree cover, so I wouldn't expect it to be terrible.

I believe you can, but if you have an AUX in you would want to use that rather than the FM transmitter when using it in your car.

From the way the HOR tab is written, I think the FM transmitter is built into the car adapter, the home adapter is included but uses line or microphone inputs.

No real need for an FM transmitter built into the unit unless you wanted to broadcast to a small clock radio that didn't have any type of inputs - the car adapter could be used in that case.

That's just how I read the CF info, though, and I could be wrong.
