So I upgraded my iPod Touch to iPhone 3.0 operating system and now when I plug it into my head unit all I get is a display 'Reading iPod'. It used to work great.

Anybody have any ideas?

The 3.0 update has definitely created some compatibility problems with the iPhone. If you can connect a different iPod or iPhone with the earlier firmware to the receiver and they work, then the update is definitely the cause.

Unfortunately nothing else can be done until either Apple or the radio manufacturer release an update to fix the problem.

Oh and the control 'iPod by hand' works fine.
