I've got a good offer to where I can take a Rockford Fosgate P5002 amplifier for a good deal. I'm looking at possibly the Rockford Fosgate P3 10"s or 12"s shallow mounts. I listen to some rock, but I also want to be able to maybe compete loudness wise (playing rap) with my friends who have regular systems (true subs, not shallow). I'd be pushing 250 rms a piece to each sub. I'm not sure if the Fosgate 12's being underpowered by this much would be bad? Will they not hit as well?

And has anyone heard these subs? Do they sound good? What is your opinion on what I should do?

I'm also considering the Kicker L5 10" in a truck box with either a Kicker KX400.1 or Kicker 400.1ZX amplifier.

What's my best bet?

Thanks!

Tough call...

The RF Punch series have played well for me, but I have had problems (deterioration, ripping, etc) with the foam surround in the past. (Note that this was in the past, so don't discriminate too much, just something to look into.) The RFs will give you more cone area for more bass, but do drop off quite quickly with the lower notes. (Don't expect them to reproduce anything under 45Hz well.) The Kicker will work well and might hit those lower notes better, but again, not nearly as much cone area.

Okay, I talked to a kid who had the Kicker 10" L5, and he's switching to the RF 10" P3 Shallows. He said they hit alot cleaner than the Kicker did. But I wanted to see what others had to say.
