I have a Ford F-350 diesel that carries ALOT of background noise when I touch the throttle. I am trying to use an iphone through a cigarette lighter attachment. I know in gas vehicles there is a place on the engine that has a capacitor for this type of disturbance. where can I look on a diesel vehicle for this??? OR what can I do aftermarket to my lines to STOP the noise because it may be easier to just install a product than find the problem.

This should fix your problem:

That would work if he was using an AUX input.  From the initial post, I think he is using something like this.

They probably make a ground-loop-interrupter GLI for those, but I don't think CF carries them, and I'm not sure who would.

A possible solution would be hard-wiring a filter like this either into the cigarette lighter circuit or into a new cigarette lighter receptacle, but I think that is more work than either of the solutions I originally posted.

Hope This Helps!!!

Just got back from Memphis in the little Mrs.' Civic. Her ipod has the background noise when playing through her stereo's aux jack only when plugged into her 12 volt power (charging). When it is running off the ipod battery alone, there is no alternator whine.

I love my SuperDuty !

Cool

Most gas vehicles do not have capacitors for this - or if they do, they are integral to the wiring.

Usually, it's mainly alternator whine and it would be the same on diesel of gas.

Your best bet is going to be a new head unit with an Iphone interface or a wired FM modulator, but otherwise I think there is probably a ground loop isolator for the cigarette lighter that would work.

Hope This Helps!!!

Anyone else have suggestions?
