Seeker of advice of all kinds relating to the buying, caring, ratings and enhancing or improving any and all types of entertainment gadgets. Currently am closing a long and diligent effort with Zenith(now w/LG?) about my 5 year old 52" flat screen... the yr and model has a cronic light engine bug... by no means a disappointment as far as 1st bigscreens go, but in short, attempots to brighten and even brightness across PIP and full pic images, 5 in total have all been less than solutions, not quite a total waste, but surely wastes of time and not cool.. The UP side here folks... PAY ATTENTION... BE NICE, BE DILIGENT.. as I have ridden this like a horse, and while it took getting to a VP of Customer Service, I am getting the unit replaced by LG, for a like size, comparable valued set... ( prices and tech have come far in 5 yrs so... heheh good for me..)
Just a bit of hopeful encouragement for those in the mix for satisfaction, the troubled set is a Zenith 52wlcd, and is or was, the cats *** 5 yrs ago, and still is very handsome and worth the buy, even with the above... as no other issues at all in 5yrs.
New bedroom buy was a 46" Samsung HDLCD and it my friends, is of the last couple months and is stunning, not like the others, with the screen door effect on brightness, this is crisp, bright, quality and a two thumbs up from here.
My questions for any and all,
1. is on a reccomendation for a replacement for the outgoing 52" LCD.... I have built a unit for this TV in particular so the dimesions of a new one are second only to the quality and picture... sound is not all that important as I have it run through a system for the sound. The hole I want to fill may accomodate a bigger tv as the one I am replacing has a larger bezel and a portion along the bottom for speakers that is about 6-8" befor the endge of the actual screen. Total dimensions for the hole are 51.5 wide, 39 high, and plenty deep.......
I welcome suggestions and comments, of the great, good, bad, and the never agains
2. about the best way to archieve the shows and movies that are saved on a DVR reciever? I have DirectTV, and want to be able to build a library of the saved stuff, making room for more rather than having to eventually delete things I want to keep if I want to record new items... when the harddisc is full that is. I have pulled some off and managed to get them on a portable drive, and cann see them on my PC but I cannot open them as the file ext I am told cannot be supported? By now I may have changed the type to open and ect.. perhaps making things worse but the ext's now are .ASF, and .DPD?? I cant make heads or tales of the Divix pack I have, the ARCHOS jukbox Ive tried, or any other conversion type device or program.... FYI, I have a Archos av402(pocketdish) leftover from the dishnetwork days, full on media drive, made for the dishnet recievers but does, should and says it works with common sources as well... this is how I got the stuff off the DVRsat rec., to the PC harddrives... (DVR to PDVR(pocketdish) then to desktop PC or portable Ext. HD.
If I could do thius.... better, if someone can point me in this direction.... I may just name my first born after them...
3. CURRENT PET PROJECT.... and why I arrived here and was fortunate enough to find this, my new f150, has a Panasonic slide out 7" multi media player, AM/FM/CD/DVD/with extra ins, port for navi. models of the stacked componets of the headunit, is CY-WMD9000U and CY-VMC 7000U, a year or so old as far as the model goes, what i question you all about is I do not see a TV antenna in slot for any improved over ait TV signals??, my last liike this had the capability for a part that was dsigned for just this, and Ive seen others but none that say Panasonic, but even if, where to connect? Where can I order or aquire a users manual for a 2003-2005 Panasonic unit? Havent been successful by search with the #'s I have................................ also for this same device, it offers a mode for Navi, and has the inputs for it, do i need a whole sustem or can I add in a GPS antenna and software? Ive seen headunits alone, but again, seemingly OEM specific and none for Panasonic.
How and where can I get this dialed in ?
4. Also in this harley 100th Anniversary F150 beastly supercharged truck is a ceiling mounted flip down DVD/CD/TV that is connected to the dash screen in one mode, and is the source of the TV UHF/VHF signal... but clean unit design shows no head unit local or no plugs for any TV antenna to boost the signal which is not bad but would be excelent with some antenna? Its the AudioVox brand and can be set to sysc with the dash screen for all together watching, or can operate on its own with wireless headsets...
Would love to find help for a users manual, tips for antenna and any other add ons., HD radio, Sat radio,, connects for my Media player to be used a source for videos and music files...
LONG LONG LONG... I know but the f irst, which this is,... asks a coupla things.... ones to come will be better... I hope to get and to give insight..
Many Thanks Folks..

Lauderdaler,
Welcome to the Community! We're glad to have you. The forum that you have posted in is really just for introducing yourself. In order to get the best answers from the most knowledgeable people, your best bet would be to post the questions individually into the appropriate forums. For example, for all of the questions related to your 100th Anniversary Harley F-150 into the appropriate Car A/V Discussion categories. This way the people that tend to view and respond to the specific category only will be more likely to respond to your post, and you'll gain a lot more insight. If you need any help doing this, or have any questions, feel free to send me a private message (PM). This can be done by clicking on my name (taking you to my profile) and then clicking the "Private Message" link under "Contact Information". I hope this helps!
Hi
I know you posted this awhile ago but am hoping you will see this. We have a 5 year (warranty up in aug. of course) 52 in. Zenith that has a blue screen and light engine problems. Initially we were sent the new bulb and replaced it...no difference. Next they sent an independent repair man who just looked at it and reported back to LG. Next came the standard follow up call hinting that we may get a refund since the part we needed is no longer manufactured. Then the "form letter" with them assuming no responsibility..."but in good faith" will repair it. Even though we DO still have a warranty in place? Now they have offered replacing our with a 50 in rebuilt,,with minor scratches on the back instead! I am NOT happy and think we deserve a refund for anew tv if ours can not be replaced. We have really liked it for 5 years but we are not happy with this sudden runaround and lack to accountability on their part. I suspect they are trying to stall until our warranty is up.
You recommended being "diligent and friendly",,how did you get up to the VP level in talks, and how long did it take to resove your problem? Also did you have a warranty.
Hoping to hear from you with any suggestions before I have to go further with this. I'd appreaciate any insight and help you can give!
Thanks,
shinski
Are you warrantied directly with LG or through a local vendor? best tips for resolution is to write down the name of the customer service advisor you are speaking with. Next time you call, ask for the same person. Learn the name of the supervisors and write them down as well.
You should be consistant with your calling, but there is no need to be forceful. Yelling gets you no-where, only out of breath.
