hw to get only bass through sub

my subwoofer is picking up mid bass,instead of just bass,how to i fix it,i tried hooking up a coil of wire my dad made for my car stereo sub to filter everythin except bass and that didnt work,and it gets worse the louder i turn up the volume

It depends what hardware you are running:

  • Your head unit might have low-pass filter settings available, but you would have to be using the subwoofer pre-outs or switch them to subwoofer mode.
  • You subwoofer amp SHOULD have LPF settings.
  • If you are using RCA's or a LOC, you can buy F-mods to filter out the bass.
  • Finally, you can use coils (inductors), but it is not a "coil of wire".
