DogLover, I am unable to locate that particular trouble code on the internet or from the Panasonic website.  You might want to call the tech support line at Panasonic if you are still having the problem.

Thanks Panasonic is sending someone Tuesday to repair it.  Maybe I find out what is really going on with it.

60 days ago, I purchased a Panasonic TH-50P700U at the end of December and am having the same blinking light issue.  The light blinks 10 times repeatedly and the TV will not power up.  It appears from numerous blogs that there is some sort of power problem with Panasonic plasmas.  The concierge phone messaged stated it was closed so I logged a ticket on the website and made sure to print it.  We'll see how Panasonic responds.

You and Doglover both have the same trouble code..  Doglover is supposed to have a tech out to investigate their set so hopefully we will get an update later on the root cause of this particular problem.

I purchased a panasonic TH-42PX60U February '07. It quit on me one year and two weeks later. Just got it back from the shop yesterday.

It had a bad main power supply board, and a bad power supply audio board.

Fortunately we took the extended warranty thru service net. This repair more than covered the cost of the warranty. We hardly ever purchase these warranties, they normally never pay off. In this case it did. And they used a very reputable shop to do the work. Their service was great. That in itself was a relief.

It sure makes me rethink my opinion of paasonic plasma's though.

Armdtz - which trouble code were you displaying when your TV went dark?

I really think a warranty for any new TVs is a solid investment.  Even if you don't use it at least you know that you have a safety net to fall back on if an issue surfaces.  This alone should be worth it to put your mind at ease.

OK, since I started this whole blog trail a couple weeks back, I figured I should weigh in.  I checked multiple web/blog sites for this blinking light power issue with Panasonic plasmas.  I came across the following breakdown of "blinking light" power problem identifiers:

============================================================ ===========
BLINKS PROBLEM MALFUNCTIONING PART
============================================================ ===========

1 blink STV 5v sense DG Board

2 blinks 15v SOS D Board

3 blinks 3.3v SOS D Board

4 blinks Power SOS P Board

5 blinks 5v SOS D Board

6 blinks Driver SOS 1 SU / SD / SC Boards
(SC energy recovery circuit)

7 blinks Driver SOS 2 SU / SD / SS Boards
(SC floating voltage area)

8 blinks Driver SOS 3 SS Board
(SS energy recovery circuit)

9 blinks Panel Config. SOS

10 blinks Sub 5v SOS / Main 3v SOS DG Board
DTV 9v SOS / Tuner Power SOS

11 blinks Fan SOS PB Board

12 blinks Sound SOS H Board

13 blinks Communication error DG Board
with IC8001 (Pesks Lite 2)

Can't confirm that these are the Gospel truth, but I would imagine it's not just made up.

Good luck to those awaiting maintenance on their plasmas.  I'd be very interested in any post-repair info/guidance/suggestions you can provide to the rest of us.

By trouble code I assume you are referring to a blinking red light by the power button. I never saw any light. The set was playing when I went into another room for a few minutes. When I came back the set was dead. I had on no prior occasion seen a blinking red light or any sign of a problem.

When I came back and found the set dead, I never again had any response from the set. I checked all hookups, the surge protector (all lights were green). I unplugged the set, let it set and plugged it back it with no further response.

Since I've had my problem, I have seen several sites mentioning the problem panasonic evidentally has with this issue. This was a well rated set, but if panasonic doesn't step forward and address the issue, their name will soon be mud.

I just purchased a panasonic TH-50P700U.  It arrived today and 20 minutes after the installer had it on it just powered off by itself.

Unlike others here where it blinks 7 or 10 times ... my Panasonic red light blinks 11 times.

Seems annoying that such a top rated TV so clearly has defects.   I called Panasonic and they said they would send a technician out next week.

I'm not impressed with the TV or the response from Panasonic ... I can only hope this isn't the start of regular problems with my new overated expensive plasma TV.

Hello,

I just wanted to weigh in.  I purchased a Panasonic 42" HDTV (TH-42PC77U) last November and yesterday it would not work.  Red light blinking 7 times.  I went to work, tried the online chat, told them the problem, and immediately got the reply that I needed to schedule a technician.  So I went home, called the call center and had an appointment set up in less than 10 minutes.  The appointment isn't until next Tuesday so I am without HD for the weekend.

My question to everyone is this.  Is this a one time repair or I am looking forward to ongoing problems and lots of service visits?   Did I get a lemon?I did not purchase the extended warranty from Circuit City, but I am tempted to see if I can get one now.

 thanks,

Eric

I am not sure as of yet, if the replaced parts will correct any future issues with this set.  Right now I'm waiting to hear back from anyone of the members that have posted about this problem (and have recieved the repair) what parts were replaced and if any advice was offered from the technican.

OK,

So the saga continues, my TV is still not fixed yet.  According to the technician Panasonic has sent the wrong parts a second time.  This has been going on for way to long!  What are the odds that I can return this thing to Circuit City and let them deal with it?

I am very sorry to hear that these problems have not been resolved for you.

In my experience the big box stores give you 30 days to return an item no questions asked.  After that, you'll probably need to get authorization from the manager of the store or higher up.  The counter jockey's will be no use to you because they have to follow strict policies.  [no offense intended to the retail world]

This is an update to the original post on 03-04-2008.  Panasonic did send a repair technician.  It took 10 days to get the parts, then another 1/2 day to repair the TV.  The technician apparently replaced 2 boards and the power supply.  Unfortunatly the Panasonic TH-50P700U only worked for 11 more days with new parts before it happened again.  Back to the 10 blinking lights.  The television is less than 90 days in the house and already failed twice.  Now I want Panasonic to replace the entire televeision with a different model.  Again, we will see how Panasonic responds.
