I am going to replace my factory speakers on my 2005 Chevy Silverado ext cab.  The front speakers are 6.5 and the back are 4x6s.  I was thinking of getting Infinity Kappa 6.5 component for the fron and Kappa 4x6 plate speakers for back.  Now the 6.5 are 4 ohms and the 4x6 are 2 ohms.  Can i run them off the same amp or is that just a bad idea.  Any suggestions on different speakers and an amp would be very appreciated.

I think you can run them off the same amp.  We found in other threads that the Kappas are really closer to 3-ohms, and they work with 4-ohm HU's so 4-ohm amps should be okay.

Anyone else know for sure?

Yeah, since its been pretty well discussed in other threads we might as well roll with it. If its not going to adversely affect the head unit, I really doubt its going to affect an after market amplifier. Just make sure you take into account the increase in rms wattage its going to be feeding those 4x6's, don't want to over power them.

I'm replacing the speakers in my 2004 Chevy Silverado extended cab.  Not sure about the Kappa's, though, have heard they have problems with bass.  I'm considering going with the Polk Momo's.

Pzaul - just for reference, it's the other way around on here.  Linking to other forums is acceptable, provided the material is related to Crutchfield topics (yours would be).  There is a gray area if there is either profanity or flaming in the thread on the other forum.  (And a discussion here in the Community forum, on how to handle this).  My feeling in that case is you should post the link with a parens (Warning: NSFW - Profanity, or Warning: Flame-throwing, asbestos required), but the current impression is you should post something like: "See thread titled "Infinity Overheat" on StereoForum.com".

OTOH, quoting websites and forum posts is probably not okay, due to copyrights issues.

I'm not a mod though, so I'm not going to make an issue of it.
