i had my amp hooked up to my sub and it did work for a while, now i try to turn my car on and the amp wont turn on. the amp did hot when i touched it. i tried hookin up the power cable to the remote turn on and it does turn on, the problem is it wont push my sub, i can barely hear the sub and it sounds all distorted. but the only way to turn my amp on is to hook the power wire to the remote turn on. i didnt blow the sub because its 1200W peak and the amp is only a 1000W. please help me!!!

That is not a logical conclusion.

Will the amp turn on without the sub connected to it?

ok i solved that problem. but now i got a new one. i didnt blow the amp, or the sub. it was the power fuse. it didnt break all the way so it was still getting some power to it. the amp will turn on, but it wont power the sub. replaced the rcas and it still wont work, its gotta be something in the head unit, like i blew the rca output. idk what the problem is. please help

You said the sub was 1200wpeak, but you didn't say whether the 1000w was RMS or Peak. Theres a HUGE difference.

You could have blown the voice coil on the sub. Also, check the remote to make sure its hooked up to the HU correctly. either your RCA output is shot, or the input is shot on your amp. Try plugging the rca's into either another amp, or so something that takes RCA's for sound signal. If it works on something else, its not the HU.

Also, check your HU to see if the Sub control is turned on. It might be turned off. (mine has a SW control, and to turn off signal to the amp by holding the thumbstick downward for 1 second.)
