Okay guys, so it's me again. Here's the setup right now.
1984 Toyota Supra P-Type
Amp 1 (Sub Amp) is a MRP-600
Subs are two Sony Xplod XS-L1037s Picture.(I don't know if anyone selling these still haha).
6x9s are Sony Xplod XS-GTX6930

The 3.5s aren't wired to the amp and I'm deciding to do that. I have some 16 or 14 gauge wire lying around and I'm gonna use that. But, they stock wiring is mad tiny, don't even know the gauge. So is the wire that comes with the speaker. Am I doing wrong if I splice small and big wire together like that? I'm only gonna have a lil bit or thin wire, most of it will be the bigger gauge. That's the easiest way I see doing it. I also know I'm losing power to the 6x9s by doing this, but I ain't sweating that. I'll actually have them seeing an RMS wattage that's under their RMS haha. They seeing 150 right now, and their RMS is 100 haha. They handle it fine though in the HPF setting. So yea, just making sure I don't cause any problems doing this fellas.
I'm assuming you are running these on the front channels and the 6x9's on the rears at 50W now.
If so, 18-gauge wire would have been fine.
If you are running them both off the bridged amp channels in 2-channel mode, that technically puts a 2-ohm load on the amp and it is not supposed to be 2-ohm stable - it might be okay, and I would run bass blockers to them, but in theory, the amp would produce 300W or 150W RMS to both speakers, and it might overheat.
I wouldn't recommend running them that way - but if it works out ...
2002 Ford Focus Sony CDX-GT410u Sony XT-100HD HD Tuner Stock speakers, no amp, no subs
That's the way it's setup right now Tiger. Yea, the speakers should be seeing 150Ws in theory and they aren't rated for it. But my subs should be seeing 600W RMS and they're rated for 200...have had nothing but compliments and no amp problems nor sub problems. May upgrade subs later, but you can't just upgrade subs and keep them in the same box you have can you? Well you can, but I've heard certain subs need a certain box to get the most out of them.
The subs are on the rear channel and the 6x9s are on the front (HPF 125Hz). They sound good. But I'm going to hook the 3.5s to the same amp, unbridge the amp and use all four of it's channels like that. Should give me a more surround sound feeling, cause it's hard to match the gain of the 3.5s to the 6x9s when you can't raise or lower 3.5 gain cause they're on the HU haha.
I'm gonna get it done ASAP, which is Sunday haha. Unless I wake up early this week, doubt it.
I think it should work pretty well - just be sure the HPF the 3.5's and keep the gain down a bit as they are small speakers.
HTH!
